Re: NGC 3718

With the opportunity of some clear nights I revisited NGC 3178, a warped spiral galaxy with its companion NGC 3729 and the Hickson compact group #56. Really cool target but not so easy. Hoped to get more faint stuff around NGC 3718 but with some thin clouds still being around that hasn't been in the...

Re: m65

Hi Steve, very well done :bow-yellow: Stars look great, overall processed with decent style. And do I see the stellar stream of the Hamburger Galaxy? I guess the image contains quite some integration time. And that the full res version looks pretty impressive. May I ask what your settings for color/...

Re: NGC 4151 and NGC 4145

Thanks, Freddy! And yes, I also heared the noise of rain hitting the window quite often lately. But the cloud cover since January is even more annoying. Let's hope for the best.

Regards
Stefan

Re: M94 an in-progress fool's errand (and an experiment)

Great image, Ron. I know it's not an easy target (https://www.astrobin.com/m47syf/) and I love the amount of detail in the core and the dust lanes you got. I tried to shoot with 5 min subs but overexposed the core. So I ended up with shooting 1 min subs for the core and layering both images (as is c...

NGC 4151 and NGC 4145

Weather and life reduced the amount of time I was able to spend on AP (and commenting on some of the great images posted here...sorry). But recently I was able to image a star field with two galaxies (and some fainties) over two nights. https://cdn.astrobin.com/thumbs/aYoxPY8Rtq3c_16536x0_ieTZ0INm.j...

Re: Mosaic processing

I haven't done a lot of mosaics either, but I already encountered the problem with the monochrome outcome when processing a M31 mosaic (https://forum.startools.org/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2329). The reason was that I opened via the 'open' option with the data source being OSC. This results in a monochr...

Re: Messier 106 et al.

Very nice image, Dietmar! I especially like the color balance you achieved :bow-yellow: And NGC 4217 also looks great. Impressive for not even four hours. I once tried M 106 and aquired more than five hours but struggled. Bright moon might have had something to do with that. AndyBooth Really nice M ...

Re: StarTools 1.9 Beta

Hi Steve, dunno where it comes from, but as a workaround you can try to undo the damage in the affected stars by selecting them in mask and use the 'undo fg' in the Layer module. Or blur them in the Layer module (which also can be done with an already finished image). BTW: This appears to be a stars...

Re: Yes, another M42, it is this time of year....

Hi Freddy, looks very good in my eyes given the conditions. I also can't see a big deal of mottling although the screen I am working with currently basically hides most of the shadows so... In terms of color I think it is really well handled given that it's duoband. The color in my image mainly come...
