Re: Colour Mottling / Background Noise (M31)
What was said earlier about stretching data past usability? There you go. That's a big one I struggled with. | It seems all these little bits of data that are stretched unintentionally rear their ugly bits as soon as you get to the super structure module. Sure, you can use that and tracked noise red...

Re: M42 Orion from Southern Hemisphere Skies
What really amazes me is how "textured it is. You almost feel like you could reach into the picture and touch the gas clouds. This is glorious.

M31 - Galaxy in Andromeda, with M32 and M110
I'm telling you, if you saw the condition of the source material, you'd wonder how I got anything at all. Heres how: 1. Patience 2. Persistence 3. Startools I love this program. Photoshop for Astrophotographers. Image Date: 12-12-2021 Tucson, AZ. Urban skies with clouds that moved in during the sess...

Barnard 33 - Horsehead Nebula
This is one of those objects that I think is a target/goal for anyone getting into astrophotography. I've wanted to capture this object since I first started well back into the early 2000's and now, with what I've learned and what I have, I did it. I'm quite pleased with how this came out. Of course...

Re: Deselecting dso core on a star mask
Hello,
Here's a trick I use for that situation.
If, say, the DSO core got selected when building the star mask, I deselect the core by clicking on the masked area with "flood lighter pixels" enabled. This deselects that one "blob"
I hope this helps.

Re: M77 - Cetus A - Hitting a brick wall with Wipe
Hey, I meant to extend a special thank you for pointing out that my data is pre-stretched. it turns out you are correct. I have to do all by debayering from Orion Camera Studio since I have yet to find another application that can properly handle its rather funky bayer matrix. The results I've gotte...

Color in Mask in Wipe module when in Compose mode?
Hello, I hope I explain this right. When you open an image into startools, you can choose Linear or Linear from OSC and not balanced. Choosing the center one allows processing luminance and color sort of separately, sort of not. Either way, better results. Let's say you're in the Wipe module doing y...

Re: Messier 42 - Orion Nebula
Hello there.
I didn't' get a chance to see you image> i get a "Signature Expired" error when I try to view it. Any chance of uploading it again? I've gotta see what 5.5 hours of integration time looks like

M77 - Cetus A - Hitting a brick wall with Wipe
Hello all, Besides the Color module, Wipe has been one of the biggest challenges to figure out/understand for me. This image has driven me crazy trying to get it to a decent, even background. This is a tricky object anyway. M77 has a fairly bright central area, and then this very faint oval "ring" e...

Messier 42 - Orion Nebula
I'm particularly proud of how this one came out. I was surprised it didn't need much in the way of processing. Object: M42 Common name: Orion Nebula Telescope: Williams-Thompson 105mm APO refractor Camera: Orion Starshoot G4 OSC Mount: Orion Atlas Guiding: Orion Starshoot Autoguider ST-4 50 x 15 sec...
