Re: I think my images are going well until I try to color them in the color module
Mmhhh...i don't do mono stuff myself but I took several opportunities to process SHO with data sets of people from the forum. As far as I can remember I always got a hubble palette like look with the HST preset. Would you mind sharing the three stacks for S, H and O? Would be interested to try. If ...

Re: I think my images are going well until I try to color them in the color module
Have you tried the SHO(HST) preset? How does that look like? Did you map SII to red, Ha to green and OIII to blue in Compose? Regards Stefan Yes and yes- that is a tweaked SHO(HST) preset I just find it very hard to use the color module and balance colors. Tried the different channel combination mi...

I think my images are going well until I try to color them in the color module
I'm having more struggles with the color module, this time with SHO images. I spend a lot of time processing, then when it gets to color I play with settings and try different combinations and it always looks like crap and I can't get the level I want. Is it also problems beforehand in my processing...

Re: StarTools 1.8.518 Beta 1 now available
May not be specific to the beta but how is the restore button supposed to work? I would like to create multiple versions without starting over, but as soon as I deactivate tracking and apply noise reduction to finish one image the restore button is greyed out after.

Re: HDR module in 1.8.515 Public Alpha is extremely slow
That would be (likely) the result of using the module on oversampled data, while not starting off with a reasonably balanced larger scale dynamic range to begin; the input image appears over-stretched, and does not appear to have the Contrast module applied first. The dynamic range problem in that ...

Re: HDR module in 1.8.515 Public Alpha is extremely slow
Are you guys getting good results with the new module? The presets all make the few images I've tried look comically bad. This is with reveal on defaults (the other presets look even worse) HDR: https://i.imgur.com/wyPMWKM.png before: https://i.imgur.com/JW549gg.png I just want to reveal some struct...

Re: New starnet alternative and use with startools workflow
Maybe it's the implementation of the star masks then, since I do find sometimes they do not work to fully protect the stars from getting larger after processes. I also find use of the color module in ST challenging in regards to saturating narrowband data without oversaturating stars, or trying to p...

New starnet alternative and use with startools workflow
I played around with the new starxterminator for photoshop and it seems to have impressive results- much better job than starnet with the artifacts. I wish there was a way to integrate it into a startools workflow but I don't know if there is any proper way to do it. It would be nice to process star...

Re: File types
Bumping this- I think it would be very useful to be able to output separate fits files for RGB channels and lum to use elsewhere. I understand the goal is to make startools fully capable to finish images and all you need but it would be nice to have the option to experiment with data after being wip...

Re: Everything goes great until I try to balance color
here's my latest take- I'm mostly happy with with it for now and this level of work but open to feedback http://i.imgur.com/hRwQwif.jpg [/url] edit: I didn't bin since I want the resolution for prints and I'm not oversampled at around 1.5arcsec/pixel. The dust still lacks the 3D look Che got with th...
