System specs for StarTools
A question that comes up often is "I'm looking at buying a new machine. What are the best specs for running StarTools?" It is a question that is quite broad. The thing to remember with all image processing software, is that every time you double the horizontal an vertical resolution of your image, t...

Re: using debayered integrated images
Absolutely. You can use the De-noise module (ST 1.2+) to remove most types of noise very effectively.artefact wrote:VNG is quite harsh. Is there a way of denoising with linear data in that case.
Good to hear!artefact wrote:Playing with Wipe settings I have fixed the green problem. I will look at DSS more closely.

Re: using debayered integrated images
Hi, Your question seems twofold. First I'll address the question about debayering. The best debayering routine is no debayering at all. In DeepSkyStacker such a method is call 'Bayer Drizzling'. By using a great number of frames which have been recorded with dithering between them, all sub pixels of...

Re: 2 stars merge into 1 with Repair
Hi Mario, The Redistribute algorithm is really meant for stars that aren't recognizable as such anymore (i.e. stars that so badly deformed they have no central core anymore). The Warp algorithm would be a better choice for images with at least some decent tracking and focus. It deals better with two...

Using Hydrogen Alpha data along with LRGB in StarTools
It all depends on how you'd like to color/use your Ha data. Ha data doesn't correspond to a displayable color, so you're going to have to decide on how you want to represent Ha in your data. A typical usage of Ha is to have it influence both luminance and red channel information. If you want to go t...

Re: Processing History?
Hi Mario,
I frequently got the same problem/wish, especially when I do my personalised tutorials.
I'm in the process of finishing 1.2, but it's a feature I would definitely like to see implemented rather sooner than later!
Cheers,

Re: Suggestion Video tutorial
Thanks Jose,
You are absolutely right and we're working on getting the documentation up to scratch, including some video tutorials. It doesn't matter how powerful your software is if no one knows how to use it!
Thank you for you suggestion & kind regards,

Re: 1_1_122 wavelet slower than 1_1_118?
Ivo, I've tried using wavelets in version 1_1_122 but it appears to take longer to run than in version 1_1_118 of StarTools? Is this your experience? Cheers, Mario Hi Mario, Yes, you are correct. The Wavelet tool has been revamped with a new (but more CPU intensive) algorithm that should give much ...
