NGC 0613—A Puzzling Barred Spiral
This image and text were uploaded to Astrobin this morning. https://www.astrobin.com/5vsnld/ *************** Beneath the handsome appearance of NGC 0613 lie some interesting astronomical questions. This galaxy attracted the attention of Halton Arp and Barry Madore, in their Catalog of Southern Pecul...

Re: NGC 7755—Rare Galaxy in Sculptor
Hi Mike,
It's not hard to find, but it's pretty small (3.6 arc minutes). I've discovered that I can get down to about 1.5 arc seconds with at least some detail.

Re: NGC 45-Faint But Beautiful
Yes, that turned out to be a really interesting target. With these unknown, tiny galaxies, one is never sure what will be revealed.

NGC 45-Faint But Beautiful
This image and text were just uploaded to Astrobin https://www.astrobin.com/ray17z/ *************** NGC 45-Faint But Beautiful Here is one of the more interesting galaxies in the southern skies. NGC 45 has been imaged just a few times, probably because of its very low surface brightness. But NGC 45 ...

Re: StarTools 1.8.516 public alpha/preview 6 now out
I'm respectful of all the hard work represented by this thread, but I thought it might be interesting to add some context. I use a six-year old iMac, which has 32 GB of RAM and a 4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 processor. I've used many iterations of version 1.8 over a very wide range of projects. The...

Re: HDR module in 1.8.515 Public Alpha is extremely slow
I'd like to offer a thought about the speed of StarTools. You can look at this issue from two points of view: the speed of individual tools, or the total length of time for producing an excellent, finished image. I believe there is a paradox here. Even though some tools in StarTools are processor-in...

Re: Using Affinity Photo just for stacking?
I greatly admire Affinity Photo, but I've only used its astro tools twice. In both cases, I used Affinity Photo for both pre and post processing. It worked, but I have the impression that it is unlikely to match the sophistication of dedicated astro programs. There are lot of stacking programs these...
