Re: Veil Nebula Processing Newbie Help

I did my best with this. I think the data is pretty good considering only 30 min exposure - possibly you could get more detail in the nebula with more time. If interested I can post the log file of what I did a bit later. https://www.flickr.com/gp/rkonrad/fD706U

Re: repair stars

Thanks for the explanation - I think that is what I was looking for. Thanks for the praise. I've been spending a lot of time (too much) on processing other's data. It helps when that data is really good (Eric's) but also when the data is average or less as that is what I would likely be working with...

Re: repair stars

Thank Ivo,

I was trying to, based on my understanding of the module, to spread out the central region of the star (which is too pinpoint for my taste) to a more average location - bigger area less bright in general. Is that the correct use?

Thanks!

Re: M31, The Andromeda Galaxy

That's a really nice image! I think the data is very excellent. I notice that your stars have a greenish tinge - so I'm wondering what process you did to get the colour. To ensure the most accurate colour, you can mask the stars and "sample" under the colour module to get the correct white balance. ...

Thanks Ivo. These are the links:

This is a different file but it happens whenever I try it.

Re: repair stars

Sorry I think I didn't word that right. Here is an unlisted youtube video showing you the problem. StarTools just continues trying to heal and freezes. I'm using the latest alpha. Version 1.3 seemed to work this time! I tried it earlier but it also froze. Nevertheless here is the video (the image is...

Re: repair stars

Yes If I, I'm masking out a single small star. Perhaps I can send you a unlisted YouTube video for you to see?

Star Shrinking Under Tracking

Though this procedure may not be new to some, I discovered it by accident working more extensively under the "life" module. Michele generously offered her data of a wide view of the Veil Nebula - an area with a particularly dense field of stars. Shrinking the stars early in the process helps with re...

Re: astro pixel processor

Hi Rowland,

Just reading your tips on separating channels. I was wondering what would be the advantage to this? Does it improve colour accuracy? Thanks.
