What am I doing wrong?

... I am running StarTools 1.4352 for Windows 64-bit. I am binning all my files to 25% of their former resolution. Usually I get as far as the wipe module before it throws me out, occasionally I get further and very occasionally I get to save a completely processed file. I've tried running it on ...

Re: Help needed with narrow band processing

... in the image, it won't create halos like local dark anomalies would. Instead it just causes Wipe to leave a tiny bit of bias in. In the HDR module you went with max dark/bright and detail size of 1000 pixels, please explain? "Dark/Bright Reponse" sets how strong the effect of the ...

Re: Help needed with narrow band processing

Ivo, Thank you for the tips! I have a few questions: What made you select 6 pixels for the dark anomaly filter? In the HDR module you went with max dark/bright and detail size of 1000 pixels, please explain? Also, I've read on CN some people recommending binning as the last process, ...

Re: Help needed with narrow band processing

... you are going for that classic Hubble look (do let me know if that isn't the case!). In ST, you can import S II, H-alpha and O III in the LRGB module as red, green and blue respectively. You're then ready to process. When processing narrowband data, it's usually a good idea to be gentle with ...

Re: Planetary Video Imaging

I can't really see the halo, but you may be able to suppress halo formation by either putting Jupiter in a mask, or use the Layer module to create a composite of the before and after image. E.g. in the latter case, you would put Jupiter's disc in a mask, launch the Layer module (after Decon ...

Planetary Video Imaging

... for days. I ran Auto Dev, and cropped, then did a manual develop on the remaining image. I ran into a problem where when I ran the Deconvolution Module and I could still gain detail on the planet face by increasing the radius slider, but then a halo was formed around Jupiter. So I was stuck, ...

Re: Shrinking stars

Re: Shrinking stars

Hi
If you want to use modules like Wipe then you would need to be able to turn on tracking, to allow tracking you would select the left option.
If you do not need tracking or the wipe module then select the right option.

Try both options and see which you get best results from with your data.

Re: Purple colour in NR on mono

... this now. Now to figure out which step introduces the color... StarTools does a fair bit of color space conversion, depending on a module's needs. This shouldn't impact a mono image, but is seems it does in this instance. Let me investigate this and report back to you.

Re: Help: Can this noisy image be improved?

... It processes your image in 3D (X, Y, time) rather than 2D (X, Y). The result is unique functionality (for example Color Constancy in the Color module) and a much cleaner signal. However it is most definitely not something you can (or should!) do with simpler software like PixInsight, Photoshop ...
