Re: The way to IC1805

Well done! The first Life->Isolate (using the maximum Airy Disk and Mask Fuzz) suppresses the background. The second, just before the colour module, tames the stars. You might find Richard Konrad's videos useful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPoJ-lMwctA&feature=youtu.be and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNidlGREqJ8&feature=youtu.be ...

Re: Milky Way Processing

... you need any noise reduction at the scale you posted (I skipped it entirely). That said, I used a slightly tweaked Isolate preset in the Life module (these are the default settings in the Life module as of 1.5). This has the effect of pusing back noise and "busyness" and refocuses ...

Using calibration frames for Tracking; some early results

Wow, it actually works! This is a very quick result of feeding calibration frame analysis to the Tracking code, which then helps the Denoise module use it. The improvement in the example below is only slight, but noticeable; some more detail seems to emerge from the murk, proving this is a viable ...

Timetravel from log

... spit out with slightly less sharpening, wipe amount etc.... Such a auto workflow should be possible given we track the full workflow. I know layer module etc would be tricky as you might be using other images, but if we could just get it to complete the noise reduction it would be a handy feature ...

Using StarNet++ with StarTools on linear data

... as well); 1. Load the (stretched) StarNet input (e.g. with stars still in place) image in StarTools. Don't turn Tracking on. 2. Launch the Layer module. 3. Load the (stretched) StarNet output (e.g. with stars removed) image in the Layer module. 4. Set Layer Mode to "Difference". You ...

Re: My first Narrowband Image

... Ha and O-III and go for a bi-color (because - hey- it's narrowband and you have that freedom!) To process this, you'd obviously use the LRGB module (soon to be superceded by the "Compose" module). Since they are all the same exposure time, you'd load simply S, H and O as R, G and ...

Re: CROP with keep aspect ratio

This would be great for a "final crop". It seems to me that for StarTools purposes, the crop module is mainly for getting rid of edge stacking artefacts, so it's very precise but not designed to give you specific ratios. I actually really like how precise it is. ...

Re: LRGB Module extention

Hi, I'm finishing up on a replacement for the LRGB module, which makes it a lot easier to work with narrowband and LRGB composites. The special combinations you mention are bit more involved, as there is no one true/unique/correct way to blend visual ...
