Re: NGC6888 Crescent

Hi Alvaro, That's a very respectable image nonetheless. In order to tame busy star fields, you can use the Magic module (using the Shrink or Tame algorithms, where Tame is best used on stars with overexposed cores), or (my favourite) the Isolate preset in the Life module (with full mask). Thanks fo...

NGC6888 Crescent

Another picture shot at poor skies. I've got too prominent stars, even if they are reduced, and I'm not sure why this happens. At Astrobin I've seen similar images with dslr and their stars are dimmer with more visible nebula structures. May be it is because my poor sky? I think I've overprocessed i...

Re: IC5146 Cocoon nebula

I forgot to put the astrobin link, here it is http://www.astrobin.com/117212/ Equipment is a Vixen Visac VC200L with f6.4 focal reducer wich leads to a 1280mm focal length. Camera is a Canon 450D IR removed by me (what a quest!). Really it is not a right combination, Canon has a 5.2 um pixel size wi...

IC5146 Cocoon nebula

I've waited to have the perfect conditions for a AP season; Summer hot night, uncooled Canon camera, light polluted sky and sea level place. Of course there was no moon at sight! ;) The result is not a great image but stacked fit wasnot very promising. Cocoon is a too faint object for that sky and t...

Re: Trying to learn program

If you re-save the file with a different name and in .fit 32bit unsigned integer format, Startools resulting image is less noisy, I don't know why. OTOH, flats calibration should have taken care of dust donuts. I've previously had problem with calibration so I'd stack uncalibrated files as a referen...

Re: 2 Repeteable bugs

I'm glad you finally nailed the bug! You are going to hate me, but you forgot to update the text in the web download link line

Edit: With this new version it seems to works fine, I've not managed to crash it :)

Regards

Re: 2 Repeteable bugs

Thank for the attention, Ivo. I've downloaded the new 1.3.5.284 RC version and i'm not able to reproduce bug#1 whith those steps, I had to play a little bit more wih the image to get it corrupted again so, it is a somewhat good revision. I've also tried to play with the image using only AutoDevs and...

2 Repeteable bugs

First of all, let me to congratulate you for this excellent piece of software. It takes some time to get used to it, but once you get comfortable wtih, it becomes extremely powerful. I come with something that I believe you programmers love to fix, a repeteable bug. I'm using Startools 1.3.5.283 RC ...
