aligning channels - offset

Post by Rkonrad »

I am attempting to process an image (astroimaging channel challenge data from Eric Coles https://www.youtube.com/redirect?q=http ... escription) thanks Eric---with RGB then H, S, O. So far I've processes the rgb and now decided to put H in red channel, S in green and O in blue (hopefully that's correct) but the H image is slightly offset from the others. I can align them with the layers module (untracked) but then I can't assign colours. Is there a way to do this? I cropped the H data slightly so it should align but then am given a warning that the images differ in size. Thanks!

Richard

(added to post: since then I've just removed the stars from the narrow band data which is probably just as well. Still wouldn't mind how to align...)

If you are still interested - one way to align them and get the image size consistent is to use a stacking program.
Most allow you to 'stack' a single image using another as a reference.
There are instructions on how to do this for Deep Sky Stacker and Regim in the Background Notes section of LRGB Module Use.
It may be possible to do it manually but it is often very time-consuming.

Thanks Guy,

I worked it out. I align the images (2) and record the offset. Then I crop the background by the same amount. Following, I crop the foreground the same amount but on the opposite x and y axis. This then makes them the same dimensions exactly.

Cheers
