M42 - 2013-02-16

  • 5 x 600" Lights at ISO 400
  • 4 x 30" Lights at ISO 400
  • 10 x 10" Lights at ISO 400 for core
  • 10 Bias
  • 10 Flats @ 100 ISO
  • No Darks, PHD Dithering
  • BYE Session management
  • PHD Guidance through Orion 50mm Guidescope and Orion SSAG
  • Post process in /r/StarTools & PS CS2
  • Shot from a Red zone just outside of Nashville, TN

Decided to grab an hour or so of M42 just for grins. First time I've pointed the ED80T in its direction, and the first time I've shot it with the Baader Nd filter.

Nailed it!
Good star color range too (full spectrum of temperatures!), but the saturation of the star color seems different to that of the nebula itself?

Understand that, I'm really nitpicking here! :D

It probably is. I pushed it pretty hard, and did so separate from the rest of the image...so, as I frequently do, I probably used a bit too heavy of a hand. :D
