Eta Carina repro

Post by Rowland »

This was taken in April 2012 and has been preprocessed using the script I'm experimenting with. Pixinsight - debayer, registration and integration, and ST post processing. This is one of the early cooled DSLR images. No noise reduction. The pleasing thing about this repro is the amount of data retained compared to earlier processing attempts, which I think is due to the script method of data reduction and ST of course.

Given the weather, imaging has been impossible for months in my neck of the woods.

24 x 210 second frames - Canon 1000D iso400 f5.6 200mm telephoto. Bias, darks, flats.

Code: Select all

That's a lot of hidden nebulosity alright! (possibly use the Isolate preset / no mask to push back the star field?)
Any chance you could post a link to the past renditions? I'm curious!

This is the original. The blue reflection nebula is more evident in the latest version and the image is generally brighter? I put it down to calibration. There is only so much data to be squeezed out of a poorly calibrated stack. :confusion-shrug:
