Which DSS file format is best

I'm using Canon550D and ASI071MC. So both 14 bit colour cameras. I'm stacking these in DSS.

What's the best format for saving the DSS stacked file to use in ST?
At present I'm saving as 16 bit FITS. Is it better to save as 32 bit - integer or rational ? And when does it become overkill?

Hi Chris. 16 bit is OK and quick to process. The RAW data is 12 or 14bit. 32 bit is probably unecessary and just processing overhead for floating point maths from what I can gather. Not sure the visual difference is detectable.
