linear Tiff's from DSS

Post by Kristov48 »

I'm still struggling with getting clean images from Deep Sky Stacker. :?

Can anyone tell me the ideal settings I should be using in DSS v3.3.3 beta 51 for processing with ST?

The camera I use is a DSLR Canon EOS T3 (1100D) unmodded.
Focal reducer and corrector when using SW ED100.
Coma corrector when using SW 200PDS.

Thanks.

Chris,

What do you mean by 'clean'? What do your current stacks look like?

By clean I mean an unstretched, linear image suitable for processing with Star Tools.
Apologies if my M33 example is a bit weak.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for uploading. I had a look. Did you use the command line dcraw command (e.g. ./dcraw -v -r 1 1 1 1 -4 -T -S 32767 -k 0 -o 0 T3ED_M33_LIGHT_480s_400iso_+15c_00577stdev_20131210-22h53m30s824ms.CR2) for your CR2 frame conversion before stacking?
What makes you think the data is not linear?

I can see some issues with the data (severe vignetting and lots of dust donuts), but that's just due to the lack of flats. There is plenty of signal in there, even in the single CR2 you posted.
