any help with this image

Post by marty1776 »

Andromeda. It's stacked already. Any help would be appreciated. I've messed with it for a while and not sure what I'm doing. Thank you!!

Hi Marty
I downloaded your file, its too big for me to work with on my computer. I did bin and crop, but ST kept crashing afterward.
Maybe someone else can give it a shot.

Hi Marty,

I had a look at the data and something very strange is going on. It's as if it has been filtered/noise reduced. What programs did you use to acquire and stack the data with? Did you use any other programs in between do any conversion form, for example RAW to tiff? It's like something took an axe to your data and butchered the fainter detail
You're not shooting JPEGs, are you?

Che rightfully suggested binning the data before processing it, as it is heavily oversampled.

Che: what version on what operating system did StarTools crash on?

Ivo
1.3.5.289 running on Win7 Home Premium 32 bit
Pentium dual core t4200 @ 2.0ghz
3.00gb ram

I binned at 50% and crashed. Might have been ok if I binned at 33 maybe?

Thanks Che.
Ah yes... 32-bit version... Yes, memory issues. :(
