I’m considering up grading from 1.7 to 1.8 soon but only have one request
Can I keep 1.7 on my laptop and upgrade to 1.8 therefore giving me a choice of either 1.7 or 1.8 to use when I process
Reason : I really think 1.7 is a superb version and would like to use it again from time to time
Appreciate any advice or comments
Thanks
Keeping 2 versions for use on same laptop
Re: Keeping 2 versions for use on same laptop
Hi Startrek,
yes sure...
You just need to use 2 folders, 1 for ST7, one for ST8. Make sure to copy all license and config files into the folder that holds the version You are trying to launch. However, I can really recommend V8, it brings many improvements like new SVDECON and NBA modules along with revamped CONTRAST 6 HDR. If 7 is running OK for You, You shouldn't see any issue running 8 neither. A more critical jump (especially for aging computers was ST6 to ST7, as the latter is GPU accelerated, which might be challenging for the VRAM, especially with large datasets. Having said that, tests were successfull with a high number of GPU models post 2015 or so.
Clear Skies,
Jochen
