1_1_122 wavelet slower than 1_1_118?

Post by cybereye »

Ivo,

I've tried using wavelets in version 1_1_122 but it appears to take longer to run than in version 1_1_118 of StarTools? Is this your experience?

Cheers,

Hi Mario,

Yes, you are correct. The Wavelet tool has been revamped with a new (but more CPU intensive) algorithm that should give much improved results over standard Wavelet sharpening algorithms.

The new algorithm should be much more instrumental in bringing out multi-scale detail, while greatly reducing ringing artifacts and completely avoiding clipping.

There is some optimization to be done yet on the new algorithm, so I expect things to improve over time.

Do let me know what you think!

Hi Mario,

1.1.125 now incorporates an optimized version of the new Wavelet algorithm.
