Re: Selective Noise Reduction?

Have you tried Denoise 2 (Grain Equalization rather than Grain Removal when switching Tracking off) in 1.6, or the updated Denoise in the latest 1.7 alpha? 1.7 has a Uniform Grain Retention parameter that sounds like it may be what you're after. Thank you Ivo! I did try Grain Equalization Denoise i...

Selective Noise Reduction?

Hi Ivo, Just a quick question. Is there a way to apply noise reduction to only a part of an image? I have an image where I really like the star background. After noise reduction, the background has kind of a "mottled" appearance. I tried some of the settings and could not quite get the right "look" ...

Log File Gibberish

Hi Ivo and Support Team, I looked to see if this question has been posed before (I am sure it has), but had no luck finding anything. I like to keep copies of the Startools log for image processes that turn out well, or for some that don't quite get to where I want to go and use the log as a referen...

Re: StarTools 1.6 Final, 1.7 Alpha w/GPU acceleration

Bravo Ivo! The 1.7 alpha w/GPU acceleration is really impressive! Thanks for all of your hard work and “no rest” attitude getting the issues with my AMD RX-570 graphics card resolved! Lots of new features to explore with this new alpha version, but the time that it takes ( or should I say the time i...

Re: StarTools 1.6 Final, 1.7 Alpha w/GPU acceleration

Hi Ivo, Thanks for responding! To answer your questions: Are you running the latest drivers for your graphics card? I was running a recent driver, but just updated to the latest "optional" driver dated 7/11/20. No help. Does the splash come up with "StarTools 7" before it crashes? Yes. It appears fo...

Re: StarTools 1.6 Final, 1.7 Alpha w/GPU acceleration

Hi Ivo and Startools Forum, I just downloaded version 1.7.402 alpha. When I execute the file StarTools-Windows64.exe, the Startools application runs fine. I really am looking forward to trying out the new version with its features. This is what I see in the "About" window. Startools About 1.7.402.pn...

Re: Halos on a refractor

Hi Ivo, Thanks a bunch! Also, thanks for looking up the star color profiles. Its good to know that the star colors and overall color balance are close to realistic. I tried another process not using the Life and HDR modules and did not see any difference in the stars. I also used the Legacy Preset i...

Re: Halos on a refractor

Thanks Ivo,

I will look into reprocessing in the morning. I will also upload the dataset tomorrow. Right now, it seems that my internet upload speed is very much reduced and the big fits file is chocking the upload down.

Thank you very much for your help with this.
