Re: stacked image from dslr Monochrome modded camera

Mike, You are a pretty dang smart guy on all things imaging. I don't know how long you have been doing this but I am impressed. Sort of Startools related but what do you think my matrix removal did to the "ideal iso" and dynamic range of the 350D? It used to be iso 400 according to one guru.

Re: stacked image from dslr Monochrome modded camera

I literally would pay 100.00 for a hard copy book that would explain every module and option in that module , purpose , and what moving every slider does or could do. a lot of times I do experiment but see no change in my image. I do think Startools gives a beginner great results and I am not switch...

Re: stacked image from dslr Monochrome modded camera

ok Mike, I will try that. I wonder what Ivo would suggest . I have been hacking my way around Startools for three years now and I am barely scratching the surface. I have a vague idea about 10% of it. I would like to meet someone who totally comprehends all the choices one can make in each section.

Re: stacked image from dslr Monochrome modded camera

Just another note on above image, I did convert all the lights and calibration frames from CR2 to DNG files using the free Adobe DNG converter. I then stacked in DSS. I had not seen the previous suggestion but will give that a shot too.

Great detail. Amazing shot. I am interested in your Next dome rotation . I just finished building one on a remote site and always looking to improve things. Shutter gave me fits as well.

Tiff into DSS and Then FITS into startools

I have been happily using StarTools for three years now. All my Sony mirrorless raw frames taken off the SD card in camera ,stacked in DSS and then FTS file moved into StarTools for processing. When I started guiding and looking for software to trigger the camera , I found Nina (outputs FITS) and Sh...

NINA and Star Tools

Hi , I am trying out a new piece of software for me, NINA, and I found that as it is triggering my Sony mirrorless it is downloading the pictures to my laptop as FTS files and debayering them as well. I have a feeling that Star Tools will not be happy with these as much as my old stacked RAW files. ...

Conservative in sharpening mask

Hi , Just on my learning curve for Startools. Really love it but was wanting to know the definition of " conservative" in sharpening and deconvolution?

Thanks, David

Pickerings triangle

I am trying to see what detail in the Veil nebula I have but 10 billion stars are interfering with that. Is there any way to remove them temporarily using Star Tools?

Re: Duo Band HOO

I was told to, one at a time in Compose module, extract red, green and blue channels from your fts file. This takes a little time. Do not jump to next color too quick, wait until it is done loading. My computer has locked up if I don't wait. Then select " L +Synth L From R(2xG)B, R(GB)(GB)(Bi-color ...
