Re: Completed Modules Indicator

hmmm, I think thank might be 2 pairs of shoes: 1) ST's potential workflow: the capability of non-linear workflow, revisiting modules etc. 2) The actually performed user workflow: This indeed is most likely a linear process except modules are being revisited deliberately. The control is asked for 2) ...

Re: About walking noise

Sure, the amount of this error is depending on multiple factors in production, semiconductor structure, environment, cleanness of power supply etc. Welcome to the analog world! I forgot to mention the distinctive sensor pattern may also be reduced by Darkframes. My strategy is using both Darks (lots...

Re: About walking noise

I think the term "defect" pixels is misleading. We should be aware of the amount of this issue. Let me try a simplified wrap-up: E.g. a typical DSLR will create data with 14-bit depth, i.e. the Least Significant Bit (LSB) would be 14. Lets assume we have a "defect" with the amount of 0.5 LSB (= bit1...

Re: Newbie trying to figure out StarTools,

you do not need the different exposure lengths at all to capture M42. As Ivo pointed out it will just create trouble. A set of different exposure length stacks will create multiple stacks with more noise each rather than 1 single stack with optimum noise and dynamics. Also it's hard to master such a...

Re: macOS 11 / Big Sur compatibility

long story short: Apple beta version is inferior to StarTools Alpha.
I remember times I did not have to admit such bitter facts in regards to MacOS, sorry.

Re: Newbie trying to figure out StarTools,

Hi one of the most tricky points in ST is to get the final stretch right. This is the second use of AutoDev (after Wipe). You need to develop a "feeling how this modul works 1) when starting AutoDev, choose "Redo stretch" option! 2) define an ROI (by click and drag over the region of interest) in ca...

Re: Newbie trying to figure out StarTools,

Hi, indeed ST is easy to operate and yields great results with preset operations - once you get the method. Then its really fun to play around and squeeze the most out of your data. There is lots of good training material around here, this is where: please check out the User Note by Guy helping you ...

Re: Help me improve this image

Hi Nyx, Do not give up on your Samyang lens: this is not typical behaviour. I own the same lens and found it to render stars tack sharp with no CA whatsoever even @ f/2. I also own a Zeiss Batis 85mm and found the Samyang 135 to be corrected superior for Astro. So this is not a bad lens. Comparing t...

Hi Ivo,
just downloaded this. Changelog states 1.7.430, but the actual ST opens as 1.7.429 as per display bottom left. Please kindly advise
