NGC 3324 Gabriela Mistral Nebula Visual Spectrum Synthetic LRGB from SHO Data set
Due to imaging under Bortle 8 light polluted skies with clear nights during a new moon period rare , I use a niche process in Startools via its Compose Module to create visual spectrum synthetic LRGB image from my acquired SHO narrowband Data set. Here’s my recent version of NGC 3324 Gabriela Mistra...

NGC 3324 Gabriela Mistral Nebula in SHO
A rare treat this late summer , 4 mostly clear nights within one week plus the tail end of the new moon. NGC 3324 was nicely placed just clearing my neighbours tree at dusk. Seeing and transparency were good and a stable upper atmosphere resulted in tight guiding. Bortle 8 City suburban skies Humidi...

IC 434 Horsehead Nebula in Ha LRGB
First capture of IC434 the Horse head Nebula in Ha LRGB at my Observatory under B3 Skies. Captured over 4 short nights ( 28th and 29th December 2024 and 21st and 27th January 2025 ) Summer so far on the East Coast of NSW has been plagued with cloudy nights with very limited windows of opportunity fo...

IC434 Horsehead Nebula ( In Progress )
Summer so far has been mostly cloudy with only limited opportunity to image and poor seeing conditions. Captured a couple of hours on IC434 Horsehead Nebula from my NexDome Obs on the South Coast under Bortle 3 skies. Managed only some Luminance and Ha data over two different nights as the cloudy we...

M42 Orion Nebula Bortle 8 Skies
Captured M42 Orion Nebula last week over 3 nights during the New Moon period under my B8 City suburban skies. Its been just over 2 years since I last imaged this spectacular celestial object. I chose Narrowband in lieu of Broadband to see how the 2600MM and Antlia 3nm filters performed with shortish...

Re: NGC 891 - the Outer Limits Galaxy
Wonderful image of a porthole into the Universe
So many distinct and faint galaxies from corner to corner
Certainly stirs one’s imagination looking at these types of images like a quote from Plutarch “ The mind is not a vessel to be filled but a fire to be kindled”
Well done indeed !!

Re: Five (?) orphaned Sisters
Dietmar, Wow sensational image of a southern favourite Star colours are excellent and you’ve exposed loads of dust and nebulosity. The background has a perfect balance Considering poor local conditions and using a DSLR with some obvious limitations, this image is top shelf stuff I concur with your c...

Here’s another version where I tweaked the Green and Blue channels
I think a bit more traditional ??

Re: NGC2070 Tarantula Nebula (in between the clouds)
Thanks Dietmar,
Yes very pleased with this result
Unfortunately the trees branch is up around 25 meters high so not going to climb that high , plus it’s a fine $$$ as it’s a government tree.
I’m just happy to image it as it’s a great region in the LMC
Clear Skies

NGC2070 Tarantula Nebula ( SHO to Visual Spectrum Synthetic LRGB )
Further to my recent SHO version of NGC 2070 Tarantula I decided to process a synthetic LRGB version from my recent SHO data set using Startools. Here the workflow to set up and load the SHO data set into the Compose module to create a synthetic LRGB image if anyone is interested……., Startools - SHO...
