Re: Messier 106 et al.

I was of the understanding that one shouldn’t switch midway through processing in ST and use other software as ST is actively tracking the data from start to finish until saved. I only thought one could tweak ST with other software once completed in ST as ST would be compromised and not provide opt...

Re: Messier 106 et al.

Hi Dietmar, Although I’m not familiar with this region being in the southern hemisphere , that’s a tremendous image I must say , well done !! I’ve persevered with 1.8 SV Decon for over a year and have reluctantly switched back to 1.7 I just can’t avoid having my stars cores ( big and small ) ending ...

Re: NGC 5128 Centaurus A Galaxy from Obs

Thanks Mike, Yes this Galaxy is definitely unique ( radio galaxy) and was discovered by the Scottish astronomer James Dunlop in 1826 from his crude timber observatory at Parramatta in Western Sydney , Australia ( prior to federation) My eldest son lived in Dunlop Street Parramatta a few years ago ( ...

Re: NGC 5128 Centaurus A Galaxy from Obs

Thanks For only 5 hours of data I’m really happy with the result The resultant noise after dithering, stacking , darks etc.., was almost negligible ( de noise only 2 pixels but I could have skipped it ) Now dithering , I’ve tested dithering over many years and found dithering every sub is definitely...

NGC 5128 Centaurus A Galaxy from Obs

First light capturing this galaxy from my dark site Obs with the 2600MM Location: South Coast NSW Australia New Moon Conditions : average seeing Captured over 2 nights ( first night had annoying local passing cloud which resulted in less imaging time window of opportunity) NexDome Obs 10” f5 Klaus H...

Re: slider brightness is very bright

Hi Steve, Maybe adjusting the contrast and brightness on your screen could help a bit ? I suppose everyone’s eyes are different, the sliders don’t bother me too much Also if you had a big bright nebula filling your screen , the sliders would not be so noticeable. Your beautiful galaxy image due to b...

Re: Sh2-308 Dolphin Nebula Processing

Hi Mike, Thanks We shall see how this one pans out , yes this object is certainly challenging under less than ideal skies ( 27 of my Oiii 5min subs were under a near full moon as well ) I’ll ignore Guys notes relating to Bi Color and the Steve Cannistra’s link as I’m baffled as well I’ll play around...

Re: Sh2-308 Dolphin Nebula Processing

Hi Mike, Thanks I must have missed the composite color scheme below for Bi Color ( Mono ) ….. "L + Synthetic L from RGB, R(GB)(GB) (Bi-Color)" creates a synthetic luminance dataset from Luminance, Red, Green and Blue, weighted according to the exposure times provided by the "Total Exposure" sliders....

Re: Sh2-308 Dolphin Nebula Processing

Hi Dietmar, Thanks for your suggestion I just found Guys notes on Steve Cannistras HOO composites , so I’m not sure whether the OSC Bi Color option will work with just 2 individual channels (Ha and Oiii ) from Mono data sets to use for HOO The Bi Color option uses all three channels loaded with the ...
