Re: Andromeda Galaxy, M31

Yeah, think I meant bigger scopes need better tracking/guiding or some such thing; smaller is more forgiving?

All SNR in the end, no matter the scope!

Re: Rosette Nebula HOO ;-)

Thanks for the flow Dietmar. A big fan of the evolving SVD module and process all my images with sampling; rare to go back to synthetic decon.

I'm curious of everyone's thoughts on the Spatial Error "e" option within SVD. Not sure what this entails but I get better results on stars using it.

Re: Andromeda Galaxy, M31

Thanks Mike; yes, really liked your M31 and the way you framed it. Its the choice you make when buying a scope; going for small wide field aperture (great for large targets) or big narrow field aperture for galaxies; many people have both (or more!); I use 81mm/382mm and 51mm/250mm scopes...

Pacman Nebula, NGC 281

HOO and H(H+O)O renditions of the popular video game character from 1980; yes, I played it back then!

WO GT81, HEQ5Pro, QHY168C, Optolong L-Extreme filter, 2h36m integration, Bortle 8

Andromeda Galaxy, M31

Took a leap of faith using just a UV-IR cut filter from Bortle 8 skies but M31 was placed close to the zenith so away from the city light dome; turned out better than I expected. 11hrs 50m total integration across four nights in September. Re: Rosette Nebula HOO ;-)

Very nice Dietmar! The Rosette does provide a better OIII amount than some other emission targets and you captured it well here. Did you run the 2nd Color iteration right after the first or wait until tracking was off after denoise? Did a good job on the blue halos; will try that. I agree...

Re: IC 1805 Heart Nebula, HOO RGB

Good points Mike and yes, have dragged sliders all over the place in Color (and other modules) to see how I can change the balance, including Scientific and Artistic modes; even played around in Filter and Entropy with interesting results; default mask though. A matter of give-and-take unless you st...

Re: Rosette Nebula HOO

Hi Justin, Nicely done with the Rosette, looks great! Welcome to the Duo-band Bi-Color group! It so happens I posted a similar thread last week with my Heart Nebula and have been going back-and-forth with Mike in Rancho on processing tips; very much a matter of taste on how far you push Ha and OIII....

Re: IC 1805 Heart Nebula, HOO RGB

Nice SHO image Mike! Love the soft coloring; assume with mono CAM and individual filters? Yes, I often use Shrink with 0 iterations and DR to 1.1; works great to get rid of ringing. I`m not a fan of driving stars into tiny dots; they come in all shapes and sizes so like to showcase them, ...

Re: IC 1805 Heart Nebula, HOO RGB

Re-processed in 1.9541 alpha with exact flow/settings except in Color module, did not touch Ha, OIII sliders to get the default Bi-Color result with my setup and location; simply adjusted Dark/Bright/Saturation sliders to taste. I did have to crank the Deringing in SVD to 75% as well as set deringin...
