Re: Linux64-GPU crash

Must be some Linux related thing (CUDA is a mess on Linux), because my GPU is supported: https://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-gpus
I have a Quadro P600

I'll look if I find a way to get it working!

Re: Linux64-GPU crash

I have the same issue, but on openSUSE Tumbleweed x64 (GNOME). My hardware is: - nVidia Quadro P600 - Intel(R) Xeon(R) W-2123 - 32GB ram DDR4 When I start the GPU version, it crashes immediately. From terminal there is no output whatsoever. I've installed the openCL packages, included the ones liste...

Re: IC1805 and IC1848 with stock DSLR: feedback on workflow and postprocessing

Hmm, that's weird. I followed exactly what I did the other time. I have tried again, this time by modifying a setting. Could you please check whether this ASTAP stack is good? Yep, that's better! [/quote] If you want to update the how-to on startools.org, this is what I did extra compare...

Re: IC1805 and IC1848 with stock DSLR: feedback on workflow and postprocessing

Some quick observations; The ASTAP stack appears to have been color balanced and there appears to be a dust donut remaining. Hmm, that's weird. I followed exactly what I did the other time. I have tried again, this time by modifying a setting. Could you please check whether this ASTAP stack is good...

happy-kat wrote: Thu Oct 15, 2020 2:02 pm What version of DSS and startools are you using?
Did you take any bias files?
DSS 4.2.5 and ST 1.6.400MR1.
No, I didn't take any bias because I've read that they're not really useful if flats and dark flats are well taken.

IC1805 and IC1848 with stock DSLR: feedback on workflow and postprocessing

Hello all, a couple of nights ago I finally had a crystal clear night after weeks of clouds, so I decided to pull an almost-all-nighter and image something from my balcony. The targeted DSOs were the Heart and Soul nebulae. Here's the hardware I've used: Nikon D7500 stock Tamron 150-600 G2 iOptron S...

Re: Developing NGC7000 using ST: can I do better?

You did not do anything wrong at all! It's indeed a characteristic of your lens. It's a very common thing with lenses meant for terrestrial use. It's not the end of the world, just something to be mindful of. The blue channel suffers from precisely the same thing. It's textbook axial/longitudal chr...

Re: Developing NGC7000 using ST: can I do better?

After running the Color module, run the Filter module. Create a "Fat Stars" mask (or just a general star mask) and make sure all the stars that show CA are selected in that (e.g. Grow once or twice). Then back in the Filter module, set the Filter Mode to "Fringe Killer". Now zoom into one of the st...
