Re: M 13 in astronomical twilight

Hi Stefan, yes, I already saw your M 13 on AstroBin before  Most things went pretty nice on Saturday night. Even guiding was quite good, there were only two or three frames to be deleted. After 1 hour some clouds came in, but anyway the battery of the camera was running low. Personally, I'...

Re: M 13 in astronomical twilight

Hi Mike, thanks :) I almost can't believe that's a Baader MPCC. Sure seems to do the job, as long as it's not at f4. It's a Baader MPCC Mark III , no idea, if this matters. As discussed in the other thread, I still have some issues regarding collimation, tilting or something else. But all in all it'...

M 13 in astronomical twilight

Hi all, so at the end, Stefan B convinced me to try collecting data also during astronomical twilight and so I did it yesterday night. And - I'm quite happy with it! Thanks, Stefan! OK, M 13 is a really bright target, but I left it out the last years, precisely because of astronomical twi...

Re: Short integration of NGC 4725 & friends incl LoTr 5

Hi Mike, the despised (to me) May Gray There's really a lot to learn here on the ST forum, even beyond astronomy. I didn't know that term, and so I read the article June Gloom on Wikipedia. Very interesting weather pattern. Greetings to San Francisco Bay! Regarding your image - once again, you left ...

Re: NGC 5371 and some friends

Hi Stefan, seems that you have new fans. My children came along yesterday night, while I was watching your image. Especially the colouring of the image and NGC 5390 have been much admired. Looks like a difficult target, no image in Stellarium and HD 121197 (?) is pretty bright. I saw, it ...

Re: M51 processing questions

Hi, at first: I'm still beginner by myself. But maybe this helps a bit until the experts pitch in ... Please find the ST log beneath. There you can follow my workflow and get an impression of how it works. Regarding your data set: The background is fantastic even, but it seems to be a bit blurry? Bu...

Re: M 81 and M 82

Hi Stefan, Hi Mike, I still owe you (both) some feedback to tips and hints you gave me but I missed to reply to. Tomorrow is a very sad day here for me: Astronomical darkness will vanish for the next two months. But that gives me the opportunity to reflect our discussion and work up some things. :) ...

Re: crash: selecting stars SVDecon

Hi Ivo, Per the earlier posts/solution in this thread, can you confirm your system's available virtual memory is configure to be 2x to 3x your physical memory? Oh, OK. I thought it would be a Linux specific issue. Now I have configured the virtual memory settings as described in the FAQ and on the l...

Re: crash: selecting stars SVDecon

Hi Ivo, I'm not sure, if it makes sense to reuse this thread - if not, please let me know. If you still see this, do let me know. I encountered occasional crashes while selecting stars as well. It might be that this happens when moving the mouse pointer slightly while selecting a star. StarTools 1.8...

Re: M 3 - one more glob image

Thanks, Mike, Sight tube? Yes, that's it! I really need to get better quality and 2" tools Good point. The first problem is the 1.25" adaptor, which is needed for the laser and of course adds inaccuracy. I have the collimation book by Vic Menard I wouldn't have thought that such books do exist. 80 p...
