Re: M 3 - First Light Omegon veTec 571 C
Hi Stefan, I love the images from Cepheus with it's amazing dust regions. They are very hard to get with my DSLR Yes, I have seen the amazing nebula images on your AstroBin page  . I'm sure, a dedicated cooled astro cam is the next reasonable and consequent step for you - concerning the eq...

Re: M 3 - one more glob image
Hi Mike, In fact, I bet you did a fancy (synth)LRGB yourself and maybe didn't even know it. Yes, I know that ST does exactly this behind the scenes. I was just kidding a bit about LRGB because I was quite fascinated by your explanations. Yes I thought maybe there was a bit of coma or something going...

M 3 - one more glob image
Hi all, so here comes my version of M 3 ... no fancy LLRGB processing, no sophisticated cooled camera ;) Taken two weeks ago. That evening guiding worked pretty well (for my skills), but after 45 mins I realized that my camera was out of focus :( So only 25 x 90s lights (~ 37 mins). For post process...

Re: Post Blood Moon M13
Hi Mike, There have been some really nice clusters posted here lately. I agree, I followed the threads about M13 as well and learned interesting points about glob processing. I was super careful about situating the glass in a microfiber towel so that I knew the orientation. Right up until it slipped...

Re: M 3 - First Light Omegon veTec 571 C
Hi Stefan, congratulations to your new camera! And soon I will be the last one using a cheap DSLR?! Funny: I took a shot of M3 a few days ago and yesterday evening I completed the post processing and thought about posting it here in the gallery. And in this moment your submission came in! Nice...

Re: NGC 1977 / The Running Man
Hi Ivo, Is this a crop, or most of the dataset? If not mostly a crop, you have your guiding dialled in well by the looks of it Thanks for your kind worlds! This is most of the dataset, only slightly cropped. Unfortunately I'm still struggling with guiding, sometimes it works fine, other times not th...

Re: M 81 and M 82
Hi Mike! And when I use it for DSLR files I actually also use the AstroSimple interpolation algorithm. I rebuilt the ASTAP stack with AstroSimple interpolation and replayed the ST session with Guy's nice STReplay tool. The outcome seems to be a nearly perfect copy of the first one: astap_diff_astros...

Re: M 81 and M 82
Hi Stefan! :) Had the impression that the noise grain in the siril stack is smaller than in the ASTAP stack (rather single pixel noise), which is a good thing, right? Yes, that was my impression as well, right after first Autodev (and later on as well). Your rendition of M82 / Siril looks nearly lik...

Re: M 81 and M 82
Hi Mike! Thank you very much - once again. So much information at once, much appreciated! I still have to work up all the things from your last posts. I will respond one by one in multiple posts - that's too much all at once  and just being nitpicky in case you want to chase after anything in t...

Re: M 81 and M 82
Hi Stefan, I will have a look but can't tell when I'll be able to do so. Maybe not before next week, sorry. Yes, of course! Please feel free to reply next week or next month or to stop this discussion entirely. You have already helped me so much. There may be more important things in life ... Best r...
