Re: M 94

Hi Stefan,

nice shot and interesting idea to combine two different exposure times. I know people are doing this to get detail into the bright core of M42 ...
Just as remarkable to me is the detail in your image in general, considering it’s a quite small object.

Best regards, Dietmar.

Re: Please critique my M13

Hi Eddie, a very impressive data set with a lot of fine detail! I own a similar scope (GSO 200/1000) and I never managed to get a result like this. The image would be perfect in my eyes, if you could find a way to get rid of this annoying mottles in the background. I often have that probl...

Re: M 81 and M 82

Hi Stefan, that‘ s even more interesting than I thought! Thanks a lot for sharing your findings and experience. I thought about your note that the “problem” persists even with dithering. Really interesting. For now, I have no idea for an explanation of this effect. Perhaps Ivo or someone else has … ...

Re: M 81 and M 82

Thank you, Ivo. Datasets should indeed rarely require such high Dark Anomaly Filter settings, however 1 pixel may not be enough, particularly if the dataset is noisy. Reading this, I revisited the dataset and indeed this "effect" stops at about 4 to 5 pixels. That’s good news, I should haven taken a...

Re: M 81 and M 82

Hi Stefan, last days, I had a go (or maybe some more :) ) with your ST session log and your remarks. I would like to give feedback step by step and – of course – there a some new questions  The data had a very homogeneous gradient which was very easy to get rid of in Wipe. That's nice ... recen...

Re: M 81 and M 82

Hi Stefan,

sorry, please ignore my last post and my question!
Meanwhile I recognized, you used the "Spatially Variant Mode", with 15 PSF samples. I missed that while reading the log.

Thanks & best regards, Dietmar.

Re: M 81 and M 82

Hi Stefan, last days, I took a view on your logfile and found found some interesting and really helpful insights to your development process. I will write down some notes in posts later on. At the moment, I have a question concerning the use of the SVDecon module: Referring to the log you used the d...

Re: M 81 and M 82

Hi Ivo, thank you for pointing out to the documentation with the M81/M82 example. That's a bit embarrassing; I swear, I read the documentation, but it may be some time ago. It must have been some kind of blackout, I was so concentrated on M82 that I didn't realized the impact on M81. In princ...

Re: M 81 and M 82

Hi Stefan, thank you very much for posting the log. Meanwhile I analysed my own log and I found the reason for the burned galaxy core. As already said, I think you burned the galaxy core and some of the stars? A FilmDev issue? Usually I do use AutoDev, as recommended. But I admit, I often still have...
