Re: OSC duoband HOO strategies
Processing your different channels non-linearly independently destroys that correlation, and an observer looking at your image can no longer do that. is about something else. Say, given a location A within your image shows an intensity of 70 % for Ha and of 70 % for OIII as well. That’s a light gra...

Re: OSC duoband HOO strategies
Most of the push happened in Optidev The issue with processing your different signals non-linearly like that, is that you are now suggesting relative emissions in places are higher and lower than they are in reality. The whole point of being able to linearly throttle your relative emissions, is tha...

OSC duoband HOO strategies
Just messing around with my Wizard nebula data while I wait for more clear nights. No broadband stars yet, just ~11 hours of L-Ultimate duoband using the AT130EDT refractor. My normal process produces about what I expected going in: standard-bicolor-process.jpg Pushing back the red any more than tha...

Re: NGC 6559 Chinese Dragon Nebula in HOO
Very nice! It looks 'soft' - not like out of focus, just like a fluffier nebula than I'm used to. I looked at a few other abin images and they looked that way to me, too. I like the shade of blue you coaxed out of it for the O, something I always struggle mightily with my OSC+duoband filter.

Re: NGC 6914 region OSC + duoband NBaccents
Another wrinkle in terms of the overall dynamic range is that the Ha is all coming via NBaccents. I'm never quite sure how what I set in the lead-in to that module is going to look in the composite. In addition, I did not use either HDR or Sharpen on the OSC base image, nor did I try going back to t...

Re: NGC 6914 region OSC + duoband NBaccents
Probably not easy to process and to decide how to distribute the available dynamic range. You definitely succeeded with regard to the brighter parts (Gamma-Cyg and Propeller). I'm not 100% sure about the darker parts, maybe there's still some signal hidden? I maybe could have made all of the backgr...

NGC 6914 region OSC + duoband NBaccents
Following the crowd... Using the AT65EDQ (420mm) + IMX571c, I decided to frame it to include the gamma-Cyg nebula and the Propeller in addition to NGC 6914. Probably not the most artistically compelling composition, with the 3 main subjects spread around the edges of the image, but I never did well ...

Re: Sh2-117 (OK, North America + Pelican). Two ways
Thanks, Stefan! No, I still haven't decided yet. I kind of like the more "dramatic" look with the less aggressive initial stretch, but I also appreciate wanting to "bring out" all the nebulosity. I did use HDR on both, but toned down. Highlights all the way down to 1.08, and dark/light enhance down ...

Sh2-117 (OK, North America + Pelican). Two ways
Been cloudy here for quite a while, so I've had way too much time to fuss with these data. AT65EDQ (420mm f/l) + Risingcam IMX571c 21 hours (5-minute subs) L-Ultimate duoband filter 2 hours (45s subs) OSC "Bayer drizzle" registration instead of debayering in Siril, binned to 50% near the end of proc...

Re: NGC 6559 Chinese Dragon Nebula in SHO
That's really cool - thanks for posting! Given that it is not completely out of reach of us northerners, I guess the reason it gets so little attention is because the Lagoon is what everyone images instead. It's not *technically* out of reach for me, but it might as well be. My southern sky is block...
