Re: NB Accent - multiple data

Jochen I'm not sure either of those are going to work. Channel interpolation options would not be available if all channel slots are filled, only if one is missing. Also I'm pretty sure we tried the compositing things way back at the start of Richard's questions. I don't think I was able to find a w...

Re: vdb 152

No Stefan I thought the stars were great. It's more the red and the purple of that...blob. It just seemed out of place, perhaps? Stellarium shows little of this object, and perhaps even less when the digital survey is turned on. But I searched for images and no small number of them are in fact prett...

Re: NB Accent - multiple data

Sorry Richard, I thought that should work. :confusion-shrug: But in my continuing quest to keep tinkering with new things, I have a different option for you. Do you have or know your way around Siril at all? You don't need to know how to stack or post-process in it (both of which I find confusing), ...

Re: NGC6979 Losing it's ethereal beauty when imported to Star Tools

Mike, Thank you for the additional suggestions for a more enhanced tweak. Can you bring in the saved TIFF and do these changes or would this reflect a brand new processing? Yes Paul the saved TIFF should do the trick. I usually make a first save right after tracking is finished, even if I am otherw...

Re: vdb 152

Interesting, Stefan!

Nice crisp and colorful stars. Stars and Spikes Forever. That should be a song. ;) :flags-usa:

Dust is hard. I like the color of the dark nebula, that's my favorite when it shows a bit of orange-brown tint. The red and blue looks a bit too strong maybe?

Re: NGC6979 Losing it's ethereal beauty when imported to Star Tools

Nice one Paul! It seems you found your ethereal again. From what I can tell, the overall black point isn't necessarily too bad. If you were to open up your jpg here in like Gimp, and put a pointer in one of the darker spots towards the bottom of the image, the RGB levels are in the teens....

Re: First Light EOS 2000D Astro Modification – Western Veil :)

Hi Dietmar, Well it wasn't so much suggestions as just some more of my theorizing-on-the-fly. I tend to do that. But I did some experimenting tonight with one of my Ha and OIII files from Panel 1 of my Cygnus Loop, i.e. the Western Veil portion. Indeed, putting the OIII only into B can give yo...

Re: NGC6979 Losing it's ethereal beauty when imported to Star Tools

Hi Paul, Do you have a sample stack and/or a log of what you did? Without knowing more and just off the top of my head, I would say to try out a less aggressive Wipe, perhaps using the narrowband preset as a starting point. An AutoDev with no ROI, or not much of an ROI. Or, if you need one in order ...

Re: Tarantula Nebula

Awesome! I imagine it depends what you are looking for as well as your own style, of course. Including the amount of grain versus smoothing or denoise that you would employ. I think it looks great at the first-shown scale. But after a zoom and especially double-zoom it might be a bit splotchy or per...

Re: Beginner Needs Help /:o

No Affinity gurus here? :? Well, maybe not surprising. I think it might be a little more popular on CN, and since it is also a processing alternative of sorts, like PS or Gimp, probably isn't going to get a lot of ST traction. But for use as just a stacker, all I really found was this help manual: h...
