Re: Processes or tools for removing moon glare?
Hey John, Well bright moon is like more light pollution, so you need more time on target to get the same as you would without moon. Also you'll be adding a moving gradient. If you can make some kind of shield to prevent direct moonlight into or across the top of the OTA, that can help some. Picking ...

Re: Assistance requested - eclipse image
Hey John, I really don't know Sharpcap at all or how it produced your file, but otherwise can echo what Dietmar said. I dragged the file into PI to check the header and specs, and yeah it looks bayered still. So I just ran a debayer and it came up color. Seemingly the right pattern, as the sky was g...

Re: Donut stars
Ah, now I get it! My fault. I didn't realize you were talking about the other file "stretch". I had figured that was just some sort of interim file used for creation of hist.csv, since I couldn't make sense of it (only two columns in v1). So I haven't even inspected any stretch.csv data at all. But ...

Re: Donut stars
Please be sure to get and use the second version of the tool. As I tried to describe (pls. see above), a single level of the pre-image can be mapped onto a range of levels in the post-image. For example, an input level of 72 may be mapped on 23425 up to 23486 on output for different pixel locations...

Re: Donut stars
I do not understand the details of these discussions despite my efforts in rereading them several times. I am, however, very interested in the improved OptiDev results with the changes in last month's 1.9.565 Beta and would love to read more about that. Thanks, Jeff Hi Jeff, Well yes that's what we...

Re: IC 434 Horsey Test
And my ST while I was at it. :D  I just checked my ST licence and it already expired one month ago. But latest beta works without hint and saving is possible as well ... @Ivo - maybe your licence check does not work any more? Just renewed as well - it's really only a symbo...

Re: IC 434 Horsey Test
Finalized my January horsey, still the last astro data I've managed to capture this year. :( I'm sure it looks pretty much just like all the others. ;) But, I appreciated applying 565 and the new OptiDev to it. The stars are so much happier, deringing can just be deringing, and no weird hoops to jum...

Re: Donut stars
Oh, just visual star core stuff rather than deep star core stretching theory? ;) 500 may be a little high if there are few bright stars to be had, though broadband on my Horsehead region was probably pushing 1,000 max pixels per sub. I guess sacrificing stars with gain (or longer exposures) could sp...

Re: Donut stars
Hi Mike @Mike in Rancho please use with caution - I found a problem. As I wrote, when applying a global stretch, each brightness mapping should be unique. But it isn't. I just implemented a check. I should have done earlier. :( The differences are quite large, for example: 13412 - 12870 1341...

Re: Donut stars
Cool, Dietmar! Indeed, forget all this stuff and enjoy a nice Easter weekend. Everyone should. It'll still be here later. :D I took a quick peek at the project -- all Greek to me. Guess I need to go back to school. And look at the specs for that dll, since I'm guessing that sets up the TIFF ca...
