Re: Owl + Surfboard

(an American expression) Wait... wut? :? Anyway, I haven't even played with the new version yet. If my car rebuild ever gets done hopefully I'll be able to clear up more astro time. And like Dietmar I'm not sure I have all the mechanics of this stuff understood yet. Seems like maybe a difficult pro...

Re: askar c1 and c2 filters

Hey Steve, Short of time to check out the files, maybe on the weekend. Or a weekend after that lol... But, you might consider ditching the B channel and only using G when creating the OIII file. Review the response graphs of your camera and the filters first, but for most OSC and duobands I think it...

Re: Playing with duoband colors

Pretty cool! As I was going down the set and things became darker and more red saturated, I was thinking myself that getting white back into the core would probably look the best. And the last image got there! Heavy star field though, gosh. So maybe that could be pushed back just a bit in the final,...

Re: presentation questions

I'm afraid, we're not done with this yet. Stefan (@Stefan B) and I felt independently of each other the need to brighten up our small galaxies using Super Structure's brighten preset, because it was not possible to get them bright enough just using OptiDev. And lately Andy (@AndyBooth) explai...

Re: My StarTools module-by-module user notes

46 pages, yikes! These are very thorough notes. :D So, I only made it through page 1 so far. Two things perhaps: 1. For OSC Open, I'm not sure middle button is really middle button anymore, since with Help at the end there's 4. 2. The synth L is indeed specially weighted from the RGB channel...

Re: M63 - interrupted by - Aurora Borealis

Great Aurora image, Dietmar! Neat you can see the high magentas and low greens. :bow-yellow: That was a fun night. Of course, just as with the eclipses, I was ill-prepared. :( Instead of just leaving my camera and tripod out there, and in a predetermined "good spot," each time I saw the data coming ...

Re: presentation questions

Hi Richard, I'll go backwards. ;) 2. I don't think I can do any better than the ST website and Guy's notes on Super Structure. 1. Yes the latest release can give a feeling of being muted after OptiDev, relative to what we were probably all used to. This came about from increasing bit depth...or some...

Re: Bayer drizzle

I saw this in some thread on CN the other day, pretty cool. He just keeps adding stuff. Now, if only I could ever learn how to use it -- other than running a pre-fab stacking script. Once you learn it (no different than you have to with DSS or ASTAP), WBPP is just so easy to set up complex stacking ...

Re: Processes or tools for removing moon glare?

Hey John, Well bright moon is like more light pollution, so you need more time on target to get the same as you would without moon. Also you'll be adding a moving gradient. If you can make some kind of shield to prevent direct moonlight into or across the top of the OTA, that can help some. Picking ...

Re: Assistance requested - eclipse image

Hey John, I really don't know Sharpcap at all or how it produced your file, but otherwise can echo what Dietmar said. I dragged the file into PI to check the header and specs, and yeah it looks bayered still. So I just ran a debayer and it came up color. Seemingly the right pattern, as the sky was g...
