Re: Can I use layers to combine different stacks of the same target?

OK! I had a stack already running from yesterday in DSS .... I placed one light in main group and did not check it and then created 4 groups with my different data of m33. I placed the corresponding flats and biases in each group. I chose 1 light from one group with a good score and framing and set ...

Re: Can I use layers to combine different stacks of the same target?

Thanks for the rplies guys!! I will try to follow Mike 's suggestion. I think I am settling at iso 400 and 13 sec, in order not to have star trails. Darks have an opposite effect in my stacks and increaee noise (cannot tell why), a fact that I have verified with all my data (I still have darks for a...

Re: Can I use layers to combine different stacks of the same target?

thanks for the answer! I was hopping to get some more detail if at all possible. Do you mean that I should use one frame from one stack in a different group in DSS, use that as a reference frame and stack the other subs in a different group,if I was to use just 2 sets of data? This is the result of ...

Can I use layers to combine different stacks of the same target?

Hello guys. I have gathered quite a lot of data of M33 taken on 4 different nights. As I was experimenting with ISO and exposure lenghth they are all different. First set is 426 subs 10sec iso200 Second 456 subs 13 sec iso 400 Third 156 subs 15 sec iso 400 Fourth 245 subs 15 sec iso 200 I have flats...

Re: Huge green bias

Hi mike.. I use skysafari pro to find targets and to see how they will frame in my setup. Right now my problem is that from my backyard I have a window of sky from the NE to S and from my front yard from W to NW ( and a school with huge procection lamps across the street...) My journey to the dark s...

Re: Huge green bias

Well Mike.... Thanks a LOT for the time and effort you put in helping a begginer like myself. I really appreciate it. Last night I took 40 subs of m13 and 40 of m57 both at 25 sec while waiting for NGC7000 to come in view from my wind protected front yard location. I then took another 180 subs of NG...

Re: Huge green bias

I think I am on the right track!!! The new flats seem to work better!!! Here is a first stack with all calibration files (and of course the new flats!) of the images I took last night of the North America nebula from my heavily light polluted front yard.200 subs of 15sec @iso200 (I used average inst...

Re: Huge green bias

Ok guys (Mike actually....) I came across this https://stargazerslounge.com/topic/220477-taking-effective-lum-flats-with-a-cheap-newtonian/ He seemed to have the exact issue as me. His flats would not correct vingetting. He has a newtonian pretty much like mine. It seems my way of taking flats with ...

Re: Huge green bias

I am wondering how vingetting occurs in the first place when capturing lights..... According to this site http://www.bbastrodesigns.com/NewtDesigner.html#diagonal my field diameter is 40mm and my camera sensor is 25 by 16mm. That is with my truss retracted 50mm to reach prime focus. I will try with ...
