Re: Blotches on background

Hi Mike Thank you for your advice. My set up is sw 72ed AzGti eq mode, asiair pro and zwo asi294mc pro, guided with zwo guidescope and 120 mcs. It's 2 hours 21 mins integration time and shot over 2 nights (where the combined bit comes from) and is rgb with zwo ir uv cut filter. I think it is just a ...

Blotches on background

Hi I am struggling to get rid of the blotches in the background in my images. I use startools 1.8 to process them but cannot get past the blotches. I realise may data isn't the best anyway and there are so many stars in the image too which doesn't help. I have tried everything startools has to offer...

Hi Carles
Thank you for posting part of your log file for me, I'll have another reprocess at it, now the clouds have descended again here.

Re: Sharp Edge to halos left after Fringe killer

Hi Carles That is a really nice process there. You have gotten so much more out of it than me! I like it the stars have a nice soft edge but still pinpoint cores. The colour of the nebula is excellent, I struggle to get the difference from red to yellow core. I shall reprocess it again with a few ti...

Re: Sharp Edge to halos left after Fringe killer

Hi Mike Thank you. You have created a lovely image there. That is the kind of smoothing of the edges I'm after for the stars, though like you said I'd click fringe killer a couple of times (just my taste) but I can see what you mean about having a little colour in them. The extra saturation on the n...

Re: Sharp Edge to halos left after Fringe killer

Had another retweak tonight quickly before setting my scope up. I'll include the log file. I did away with the screen nudge and synth modules and did a stellar profile tweakin layers. The stars are how I want them with a smooth edge and clear points of light at the centre, just think I've gone overk...

Re: Halos left after Fringe killer

Hi Mike I will try to share my stack on Dropbox here, hopefully it works, it's quite rubbish but using it as a test image from old data taken in February. https://www.dropbox.com/s/8ju3zgg7d4pkvfs/Autosave.fit?dl=0 I prefer to make the notes and I have it all there on hand at the time and can alter ...

Re: Halos left after Fringe killer

Had another quick tweak tonight, basically moved the entropy module up, used the synth module and then used the second shrink module as a final step. Not sure where the purple hue has come from (looked good on the laptop) but yet to tweak in photoshop, but ok I think. Also reduced the green bias sli...

Re: Halos left after Fringe killer

Hi Thank you for your reply. I'm not sure if my camera has the unlocked binning mode, I'm pretty much a noon and only had it for a few months. have been trying all weekend to get some sort of workflow sorted for this issue. I have also been reading a lot in the star tools forum and realise the stars...
