Re: Clicking on Open on 1.7.460 with KUBUNTU 20.04 crashes

Hi,

You'll want to install wmctrl and zenity, and you should be good to go.
Any trouble, let me know.

Correct, e.g. it should sit amongst the other files (executables, 'resources' file, 'CHANGELOG' file, etc.).

Re: Siril debayer and fits file format settings

Hi Ed, Welcome to the StarTools forums! :text-welcomewave: AMaZE, RCD or VNG4 sound like they fit the bill. "excellent job for round edges, for example stars" sounds a bit odd though, as there should be no round edges in stellar profiles... As for file format, a 32-bit Integer file format (p...

Hi,

I'm a little confused about the outstanding problem/issue/confusion? Were all the contributions (particularly @hixx explanation) not helpful?

Re: combining non-linear narrowband data

I'm trying to create a narrowband image of the horsehead and have around 18 hrs of ha,s2,O3 but can't seem to arrive at a pleasing colour palette with HSO. as Ha is dominant, its overly green. can I adjust the ratio of the green channel to red and blue? In StarTools, uniquely, color is processed en...

Re: pale/missing colours in dark areas

But I am still not completely convinced that the colour balancing is the main problem. With the help of your example processing I now managed to get a similar result like yours. Now I will check step by step what makes the difference. I'm quite curious about that and I will report back as soon as I...

Re: pale/missing colours in dark areas

Hi, The dataset has already been color balanced at the very least (which is the bulk of the problem), but I did not have any particular trouble replicating the FITSWork rendering... StarTools_559.jpg On my color calibrated screen I overdid it with the dark saturation, but I did that so there is no d...

Re: StarTools bin

Is 50%, 2x2?
Correct!

It's (100 / percentage) x (100 / percentage).

So, for example, 33.3333% would be 3x3.

Re: Startools in the future

Hi Troy, From the CPU side that should be beastly PC indeed. However, the one thing you will definitely want to upgrade in that configuration is the GT710 GPU. Sadly, GPU prices are pretty poor right now due to shortages. It may be worth waiting, you may wish to source a cheaper (or second hand) car...

Re: Processing the nebulae in orion - wipe and colour

I am not sure what's wrong with this data. I have never noticed banding in calibrated images with this camera, could it have to do with the flats? I tried stacking without them and although less evident it looks like it's still there. Here is the flatless stack for reference. As you get deeper into...
