Re: Guess I'm getting rusty :)

Well, there's probably not a WHOLE lot of LP to be had. The Baader does an awfully nice job, and I make a point of selecting the darkest part of the sky when shooting from home. It IS color balanced...that's part of one of DSS's settings...either Per Channel background calibration, or RGB background...

Re: Guess I'm getting rusty :)

Gordon, good to see you back in the saddle! Hope life has been treating you well in the meantime. Eh...ups and downs, you know. Just lots going on. :) We DO have a new "base of operations" for AP trips however :) http://i.imgur.com/psmOolh.jpg Hmmm... the data appears stretched - pretty rare to see...

Guess I'm getting rusty :)

Hey gang...been a while! Life keeps happening, donchya know. So, late last week I finally managed to get the scope out, and get a little over an hour of NGC 6960, from the red zone that is my back yard. Now, glancing at the raw TIF (Link below) I expected some pretty pleasing results...rarely have I...

Re: Help with Auto-dev, and backgound noise management

On a side note its really great that startools has such a nice community of people helping each other out. I agree. So much of this stuff is subjective...let's be honest, our human eyes could never see these objects as we photograph them, EVEN if we only photograph in "visible light". And until we ...

Re: M13 Processing advice request

I know some folks are "offended" or whatever about artificially adding diffraction spikes to stars...but I believe it can be a true enhancement if it's not overdone. I think you absolutely nailed it here...that adds just the right touch to this image, imo, and handled a tricky issue with the stars t...

Just as an exercise in "What did I get?", I reprocessed this crop of the drizzled stack, focusing exclusively on drawing as much of that disturbance out as I could.
