Re: StarTools does not run on macOS Big Sur 11.2.2

Hi,

in my case StarTools works perfectly on Big Sur 11.2.3 (MacBook 2017, Intel CPU and Iris 650 GPU)

Best,

Nico

Re: Help on LRGB+Ha image

 ...is THAT coming from my data?!?! :bow-yellow: Thanks a lot!!! Actually I acquired luminance on the second night by mistake... made a note to myself to double-check the filter settings before shooting a sequence... I am now trying to at least reproduce your great results. Did you use the la...

Help on LRGB+Ha image

Hi, I acquired a set of LRGB and Ha on NGC 6888 (Cocoon nebula). The total exposure is around 2 h for Ha and L, and 20 to 30 minutes for R, G, and B. Everything is calibrated with flats, darks and bias (I have acquired the data over two nights, and unfortunately I have rotated the camera in between....

Re: Curious about deconvolution

Hi Ivo, thanks: so I should start with a Radius which corresponds roughly to 1.5"-2" to be in the ballpark of seeing induced blur, isn't it? In my case, imaging at 0.92 arcsec/pix, this would mean 1.6 to 2.2 pixels... if I bin the image, I would end up with a Radius which is less than one pixel! Doe...

Curious about deconvolution

Hi, (not sure this is the right forum to post my question...) I was wondering if there is an optimal setting for the Radius parameter (Decon module) linked to the image scale (arcsec/pixel) and seeing for deconvolving an image. If I am not mistaken, the Radius should somehow control the size of the ...

Re: Help with Wipe, Develop

Thanks Rowland! I've managed to register images in regim, now I am trying to compare the output with what I get from DSS. Using your script produces good calibrated images! And since I will be taking some forced pause from DSO photography (my latitude is 51 N, so no more real dark nights for ~2 mont...

Re: RAW processing script - raw to tiff and master frames

Hi Rowland,

I can confirm that everything works also on Mac OS X (Yosemite). I still did not try it on real data but I'll keep you posted!

Thanks a lot,

Nico

Re: Help with Wipe, Develop

Hi, it seems that my flats were not checked in DSS  . Wipe did a much better job if flats were taken into consideration. Using both flats and darks and averaging stacking leaves unfortunately traces of the hot pixels in the final image. Switching to kappa-sigma improves the outliers rejection,...

Re: Help with Wipe, Develop

Hi! Ivo: thanks for your suggestions! I will try averaging and see if I can improve the results. I'll let you know. Rowland: I still have my dark library around and can see if including darks in my workflow will improve the final stacked image. I was also playing around with regim, but I could also ...

Re: Help with Wipe, Develop

Hi, thanks a lot for the feedback! Rowland: I tried stacking the original CR2 files, but it seems that DSS applies some kind of color-balance to the results, making it very difficult to process the stacked image (there was a thread here on the forum some time ago, and Ivo suggested to convert CR2 to...
