Re: Dark Anomoly Headroom and more..
Hi Ivo, Thanks for the description of Dark Anomaly Headroom. Which modules use the Dark Anomaly Headroom - I was assuming it was all those that use a Dark Anomaly Filter. I was guessing Develop, Wipe and Contrast - is this right? Does Autodev use it too? - For the modules that use the Dark Anomaly H...

Re: "Partially" mixing RGB and HA
Hi, Michele, thanks - don't worry - I've only just found the time to have another quick look. I hope things become a bit drier for you soon. Richard, you are right regarding the ISO setting in relation to choosing an optimum setting to use for photography. I was asking because, as you say, it affect...

Re: "Partially" mixing RGB and HA
Hi Michele,
I've just had a quick look at this again to see the best way of doing this . From the FITS data It looks the total time for the RGB was 4hrs and the Ha was 5 hrs. Is that right? Also, what were the ISO settings used?

Re: unnatural stars after repair
Hi Steve, I think the technique you are thinking of is described in the video M8 in Color with modest data between 13m32s and 15m11s - it describes the use of the Layer module to improve the stellar profile. I've added a summary of it to the Special Techniques section of the Repair Module Use topic....

Re: "Partially" mixing RGB and HA
Hi Michele, Here are a few ideas you might want to consider: Making a synthetic luminance frame using the Ha and RGB - see 'Creating a synthetic luminance frame' in the Special Techniques section of the Layer Module Use topic. Using this we know we are using all the luminance - not just where there ...

Re: Channel separating script Mac and Linux
Hi Rowland, Thanks. I had a lot of help compiling them from Ivo and others, and the forums have a lot of interesting ideas. I'm always interested in new ways to get better results - so if you have any favourites please let me know. Definitely off-topic - I noticed you used ImageMagick for some analy...

Re: astro pixel processor
Very interesting thread - both the Astro Pixel Processor - and the LRGB processing methods. The processing steps in Layer Module Use are a variation on the Scott Rosen process and don't include the Rob Gendler 'LLRGB' technique. It may be that this omission has a significant effect on the results. I...

Re: Channel separating script Mac and Linux
That's a quick and neat approach. An alternative, manual, way to do this is using StarTools' LRGB module. Load the colour image in the LRGB module using the Luminance button, keep the result, and save it as the Luminance file. Repeat using the Red, Green and Blue buttons, creating a separate file ea...

Re: aligning channels - offset
If you are still interested - one way to align them and get the image size consistent is to use a stacking program. Most allow you to 'stack' a single image using another as a reference. There are instructions on how to do this for Deep Sky Stacker and Regim in the Background Notes section of LRGB M...

Re: Mask Brush
Thanks for the handy tip, Ecuador. It opens up many more ways to make a mask.
Also, it uses a Tiff file so other programs such as GIMP can be used.
Is it OK if I add it to the Mask Module Use notes?
