After finding out how to de-Bayer properly I have been de_bayering the raw images prior to processing. However, even with the raw image not showing any pattern, the first analysis - autodev - is bringing up the matrix pattern. Is there something that I have overlooked?

Re: Problem with binning
Hello Well, I followed the link (thanks!) and was quite amazed with the revelations. I had no idea about the events going on in the background. I decided to go back to an original image and try difference Bayer settings. I selected one that doesn't produce the graticule effect - yes, as shown in you...

Problem with binning
I am using the latest version. My camera is SX M25C and the raw image has been debayered with no balance (as per the instructions in ST). The problem is that the whole image shows the graticule. So does my alternative software. However, the big difference is that when I bin in my original software t...

Re: Please - a full manual with no 'not yet written' section
Hello Ivo Sorry that you've had a problem replying. I receive email without problems on my normal email address l*e@a*r.plus.com - but surely replies would be posted on the forum? To answer your query about using the 'unofficial' help file, yes I have been reading through it carefully but it does sa...

Please - a full manual with no 'not yet written' sections
The subject line says it all.
I cannot understand many of the options and large sections of the notes say 'not yet written'.
Until I can understand what Star Tools does, I can't use it properly.

Re: repairing a tracking error
Hi Lawrence. When you open the image you have to select modified and not linear otherwise Star Tools will start tracking and many of the modules are not available until the tracking is turned off. Normally when processing a raw image the tracking is turned off when you do the final de-noise on your...

repairing a tracking error
I loaded one of my old M27 images just to see whether I could use ST to repair the small tracking error. Once loaded, I found that the program had blanked out the 'repair' option. I am finding problems in learning ST because I cannot find a comprehensive manual outlining the program and its faciliti...

Re: Using mask
To be able to help you better, would you be able to provide a sample of the image you're working on? As for the workings of masking, does the following help? http://www.startools.org/modules/mask http://www.startools.org/modules/mask/usage I have the originals but this jpg version is smaller and st...

Using mask
New user: I am trying to process a solar image with genuine spots and several dust spots. I have not been able to work out how to use the mask because the document keeps saying 'not written yet', or similar. I managed to point out two dust spots in green and then invert them. From then on there were...
