Hubble M16

So inspired by Ivo's video of Hubble's M16 - thought I'd give it a try. Sorry, the log file is buried very deep and is difficult for me access. Processing steps are very similar to Ivo's. I couldn't make the 2 large offending stars acceptable so I removed them :( To add a bit more detail, I used Dar...

Re: initial processing artefacts

HI Dave,

I'd love to see your stacked tif or fit if that's possible.

contrast -compensate gamma

Sorry for a bug report so soon with the new release. When I apply "compensate gamma" together with contrast, I get a completely black image. Next, I desaturated the colour completely and though the image remained, there was no contrast applied. Let me know if you want more details. Thanks. Awesome j...

Elephant Nebula

Again, this is not my own data - but "BigScott27",s from https://www.astrobin.com/rawdata/publicdatapools/63/. This is a hubble narrow band process. Very briefly, I processed each Ha Oiii, and Sii individually. I recombined them processed - under LRGB without tracking to get the colours (Sii=red, HA...

Re: The way to M31

Thanks Ivo - very helpful! A side note: I love the colour you acheived with your processing of m31. I tried using the same values in the colour module as you did but came up with too much red in the blues. At the start of the process, did you select first or second option (whitebalanced or not white...

logfile

The logfile is 320 mg which is a lot of data for a text file. I'm using Linux Mint and use the default software "text editor". Notepad doesn't load anything (that's under WINE). I also tried Abiword though I gave up after about 20 min. It's interesting that others don't seem to have the same issue. ...

Re: The way to M31

Here is my version Gaetano. The stars a are a little more prominent than I would prefer but time stopped me from doing a star removal step. I'm not totally convinced of the overall colour (max rgb under colour shows a good bit of red in the outer areas of the galaxy which seems unusual to me - so I ...

Re: My first Narrowband Image

Here is my try (bicolour version): Since the log file has a lot of characters regarding the masks - it takes a *long* time to load the information. I'll send it a bit later. The luminance is a blending of HA and Oiii. I the processed the ha and Oiii separatly assigning the ha to red and the oiii to ...

Re: Help needed with narrow band processing

This is what I came up with. https://www.flickr.com/gp/rkonrad/CXx45C Given the HA concentration I think, for me, the overall predominance of colour should be yellow copper or green. My attempt was created by processing the 3 bands individually and the signal in each is arbitrary so theres not a lot...
