Re: Shrinking stars

Thanks- but I think we will need the original stacked tiff (raw image)to process. You sent a jpg which wouldn't work.

Cheers

Re: Shrinking stars

Without seeing your example it's hard for me to advise - "reveal core" under HDR is a good tool for globular clusters. This will give you detail but not brightness. You could follow the action with a default "life". You could also try "flux" but be sparing. Hope that helps!

Re: Histogram

Thanks Ivo,

That's very clear. I'm not sure what I did in the past to clip the blacks. It could have been a noisy image as you said. Thanks.

Re: Histogram

Is it possible to clip the black point once out of tracking? I thought you mentioned it was possible (though not once tracking is on). I remember I have done so a few times in the past but can't remember the specifics.

m42

My own data finally...So this is a very modest rendition of m42 considering it was taken near the horizon from my backyard in the middle of the city. I'm just happy that I was able to get some sort of story (Adam Block:) considering my conditions. Unfortunately I shot only 4 frames of 4 minutes befo...

Re: Masked stretch in Dev?

Ok..so this works but we get waning messages about using that module while tracking is engaged. That is ok? Wouldl this have any impact in the noise reduction in the end? Ivo, you had also advised something similar about bringing the stars down in the Heart Nebula I was working on. Should this all b...

Re: Field flattener vs lens module

Thanks Ivo

That makes sense. I hadn't thought about the registration issues during stacking.

Field flattener vs lens module

I'm thinking of upgrading a little - possibly purchasing a zenith star 61 or 73 from my very questionable 70-300mm zoom lens. I have been told that I would also need to invest in a field flattener. Trying to spend as little money as possible, I was wondering if I really need this as startools lens m...

Re: How Much Memory

Ivo recommends more than 4 gigs. It also depends on how high the resolution of the image you're processing. I have a slow laptop which I use from time to time. It has 4 G memory but the processor is really weak. As soon as I get the chance (after opening and cropping) I immediately reduce by binning...
