Re: stacked image from dslr Monochrome modded camera

Siril will convert raw to fits and also gives control of if (and how) to debayer.

Re: Xtrans and ST

Hi Misange, I use a X-T2 for my astrophotography. I recommend Siril for stacking - it's fast, free and handles the X-Trans sensors. It will work with Fuji .raf raw files - it's converts them to .fits for stacking. One thing to watch for is that Siril requires a lot of free disk space for temp files ...

Color matrix for Fuji X-Trans

Could you please add color module matrix entries for the Fuji X-trans series of sensors eg. X-T2, X-T3, etc?
These could really benefit as the weightings between R, G & B are different to a traditional Bayer filter.

Re: StarTools 1.8.516 public alpha/preview 6 now out

One thing I have noticed with the new 1.8.516 alpha is I now sometimes have an immediate crash with no message on the command line or entry in the log. Once triggered this is a hard failure on every program launch. A complete reboot always seems to clear the problem, so I assume it's some sort of un...

Re: HDR module in 1.8.515 Public Alpha is extremely slow

Very unscientific but, the '20 minute initial calc' dataset is now down to just over 3 minutes for the default settings on module entry, with 1.8.516 on the same machine. That's fine for me, and similar to what I get with the Super Structure module. These new defaults are, to my mind, a much better ...

Re: HDR module in 1.8.515 Public Alpha is extremely slow

I have to agree - I'm actually finding this HDR module a backwards step from the previous. I have to wait multiple minutes even on low resolution images (eg. 1k x1k). This is for the default 50 pixels context size, I don't dare vary the context size to see what effect this has. I know the benefit is...

Re: Messier 27 Data

Here's what I got from the new data. I used Siril to register and stack the two files together first. Ivo's comment about the color channel alignment still holds. I used the lens module to slightly compensate by shifting the blue and red channels separately but that's not going to fully compensate. ...

Re: Messier 27 Data

There's something odd going on with the 2021-08-13 stack. There's a repeating single pixel artefact across the whole image at approx 26 pixel spacing...

Re: M81, M82 IKO processing competition on SGL

Thanks for the guidance Ivo. Interesting thread, and some more reading for the list. It's sad how many topics on CN end up with a confrontational tone. Because of that I largely avoid it now.

Thanks for your kind words, Charles.
