Re: 1.8 closed alpha feedback

I did just have an SVD crash in 505. Standard Startools crash, meaning the program just disappeared. Was processing some CN user data, and opened as linear instead of center option because I think they channel neutralized despite saying it was just the plain stack. I think it was a 533MC, so the squ...

Re: Combining RGB with Duoband for natural star colour

Thanks I'll check that out more. For duoband "right" colors is sort of up for grabs. You can keep it red and teal, or just about anything else. Lots of options in the color matrix settings if you load it as OSC bicolor. Including some that sort of start looking SHO-Hubble-ish. Which is good for me. ...

Re: 1.8 closed alpha feedback

My guess is these are star attributes that exist at the outset, meaning in the data. It tends to be the brighter stars, so the core could be saturated. I didn't have an L file to compose, but opening an OSC file center option creates an L for "compose" mode anyway. Even the linear file, before stret...

Re: Combining RGB with Duoband for natural star colour

I've had a rough time trying to pull this off myself. Not my data (don't have any like this), but some CN uploaded data for M16 that was taken in both SHO and RGB. Both processed fine by themselves, though I couldn't quite get the SHO to look like Hubble SHO no matter what matrix and settings I trie...

Re: 1.8 closed alpha feedback

Good stuff gang, I will have to try a few of those things. I'm getting better, but not there just yet. A few more observations, again just on my M5 data (I'll have to start trying other data too): I'm getting a few anomalies in auto star masks - little black dots. Well, black if autogener...

Re: 1.8 closed alpha feedback

Yes, sometimes the blue boxes vanish, luckily on a temporary basis. I'm pretty sure at first I was reselecting the same star. Can't recall if that acted as a deselect? I've avoided doing that since then and just wait it out when the boxes go off to hide. I did save an apod mask last night (or at lea...

Re: M5 and the 5 Serpentis Double

Thanks. :D I'm actually getting closer to having a decent 1.8 version of it now also, and hopefully will soon surpass the 1.7 and I can post it up. In the one I made last night, using SVD, I was able to get colors even deeper into the core than above - which is too white in there for my taste. Just ...

Re: 1.8 closed alpha feedback

I too was up late and managed to then stay up even later after the new release came down. :D Ran my M5 through it. Getting better (unsure if due to more familiarity or the new changes), but still not up to my 1.7 version of the image just yet. Though I did put a lot of elbow grease into that renditi...

M5 and the 5 Serpentis Double

I showed this in another thread, but per request for the log and after finding this Gallery forum, I figured it would go here best so as to not derail the other topic. This is my third ever globular cluster. First was a rather flawed M13 earlier in the year, and a few weeks ago I got a decent shot o...

Re: 1.8 closed alpha feedback

that is one sweet M5 Mike! I have also been plugging at M5 with 1.7 and now 1.8. I'd be interested to read your workflow if you could post it from the log in code blockers. Thanks, Dean. (also presuming DeanST = DeanCN? just a hunch. could be wrong) If so, yeah this is the same image in the monthly...
