Re: Another (very faint) Ghost
Good one, Dietmar! Not an easy target with 60% moon. Very good job on the stars. The Ghost is already well visible. I usually use the 'No ROI' approach when the FOV contains more nebulosity than background. But here it might be a reasonable approach to get the faint stuff. Maybe we would ...

Re: 3 images in progress
Hi Ron, I really like the Bubble, especially the one with more nebulosity. In my experience a difficult target, at least I was struggling to get a picture out... The trunk is also pretty cool. I like the unconventional coloring of the pre GIMP version :) The Garnet star doesn't distract but it has a...

Re: Soul Nebula
Hi Carles, So I had to try regular NBaccent workflow with low agg on wipe and got similar results as that astrobin link saturation.jpg I like that rendition. I had a similar result with saturation on 200% like in your case. I throttled it down a bit. I try to tame my images and myself in that regard...

Re: Another Soul - badly framed
Hi Freddy, already very promising image. Great to see what you were able to pull out of the little time you had. I also made the experience this year that it stayed often clear much longer than forecasted. So if it was forecasted to be clear until midnight I just hoped for the best and it often work...
Re: NGC 1333
Hi Ron, So there I was, poking around Stellarium looking for a reasonable OSC target @910mm to fill new moon time until IC 405 rises high enough, when the Embryo Nebula caught my eye. NGC 1333 - hmm sounds familiar. Oh yea, Stefan's recent post. But there should be better targets which are already h...

Re: Soul Nebula
Hi Mike! Stefan I think that looks appropriate, other than maybe a green tint to a couple of the yellow stars? Yeah, that's an effect of NBAccent on the stars which I forgot to undo by layering ... And since I am a lazy guy ...  The star field in general looks great to me...

Re: Soul Nebula
Hi Carles, thanks for giving it a try! Here's your and my rendition: Soulanimation.gif In my eyes there's not a big difference in terms of overall nebulosity. Maybe the faint parts very near to the upper edge of the image are a bit brighter in your rendition but that could easily accomplished in NBA...

Re: Soul Nebula
By the way, this time I used the Scientific approach in Color. Came out fine I think. Artistic looked pretty boring and colors washed out. Stars are bit bloated/haloed. I THINK I know what's causing this. None of the three nights was forecasted to be clear and there were probably clouds around. For ...

Re: Soul Nebula
Hi Carles and Freddy! although, with 13h of L-enhance, i would have expected to see the nebula more prominent. Could you show the l-enchance file stretch even in BW ? Wonder how much signal is there in comparision of the final image. Yeah, I had the same impression. It's surprisingly faint. Please h...
Re: NGC 1333
Hi Dietmar! I reread this thread and I wonder if there's a conclusion regarding the initial point you described - the unexpected problem with your dataset. Are the other stacks (PI and Siril) significant better than your original ASTAP stack? Do you still needed/used Correlation Filtering for your l...
