IC 342

Here is my latest attempt with Startools. http://astrob.in/61365/ This is was a tough target for me. For those of you on the south end, this would be one of the brighter galaxies in the norther sky if it wasnt obscured by the milky way dust and stuff.

Re: Star Halo artifacts

If you are sure focus is good, try stacking in another program to see if DSS is doing something funny.

Its easy to see the results with the before and after button to compare what it was before the use of the module, but not always easy to see within the module as you cant switch back and for...

Re: Newbie just learning Startools...

I would wholeheartedly agree with the above re:flats. Makes a BIG difference and its easy to do  And gminder, you pulled a lot more out of it than I did. Do you suppose its because you cropped a lot more than I did and concentrated on the galaxy? I think it may be that and you superior ski...

After wiping to get rid of vignetting, I had to get aggressive with the contrast module. I dont know i...

Re: Helix Nebula

Tried a quick reprocessing the Helix data. I will have more time tomorrow to see if I can improve on this. Might have pushed it a little too far. I see a blue in the corners, and the stars don't look good, but I got more detail!!! Let me know what you think
