Re: First light of self modded 1100D
Good day, A little update, I have modified my self made Led Light box by adding on the back of the light box reflecting side a blue plastic film coming from a plastic office maps, you know, the one's to put A4 documents inside? The one on right most side is the histogram of the resulting Flat, all t...

Re: First light of self modded 1100D
...... Other things that might affect your results - temperature consistency across the whole data set. It is not unusual for the lines to be absent in an uncalibrated stack. This doesn't mean you should not calibrate, the lines may be present because the calibration frames, most likely the darks a...

Re: First light of self modded 1100D
Hi Ivo & Rowland, Ivo, I agree, I do not discern the streaks in the light only stack, I am also completely at loss about what is going on. Rowland, unfortunately DSS will not let me do what you propose as stacking method... :( The data in the second link was a set without Flats... I use DSS nearly o...

Re: First light of self modded 1100D
Hi Ivo, Thanks for your response. The CR2 attached in the previous post does not have flats subtracted, Rowland just asked for a single stretched image. The set of CR2 were taken with APT and guided with PHD2, and the dithering was done without any errors reported from APT. I have uploaded in Google...

Re: First light of self modded 1100D
Hi Rowland, Thanks for your mail. The light frames were just CR2 files stacked in DSS, and the resulting autosave file opened in ST no preprocessing done. The EOS was attached to a Meade LS6" SCT FR 6.3 I don't know where the truncating/clipping could have happened. Could the full moon have somethin...

First light of self modded 1100D
Good day Ivo, Please check this image, it is the first image that I have taken with my freshly self modded EOS1100D (yesterday night with the full moon. On the center/right side of the image there are a sort of diagonal streaks, I don't know if they are caused by moon, or by a to much stretched imag...

Re: Masking, I Really Need Help to Understand it
Hi Caley, StarTools can appear to be a bit complicate at the beginning, but it is actually easy to use once you get used to its way. Here a log of a typical session, from uploading the "Virgin" DSS file to saving the results. Try and apply them to your file. -----------------------------------------...
