Re: SHO with OSC?

Nick I have used the l-enhance and tried a Sii filter but the results weren't great, S tends to be quite faint in most objects, add to that using a bayer matrix and collecting the data is hard work. But having said that not impossible. My advice would be look to the future and what price range of NB...

Re: Pixinsight non-processing tools

I currently use Sirilic to stack, but it doesn't provide any image inspection tools. I tend to weed out the bad images using DSS and APT. I looked at ASTAP for stacking but one stack of 90 images plus calibration frames ran whilst I sat with my feet up watching a half of American Football live and, ...

Re: What is processing, what is art?

Thanks for people's contributions. I directed people to a particular target in Astrobin because one celebrated image was aesthetically very pleasing, an award winner, yet the clouds of nebulosity were almost terrestrial, billowing and fluffy, contrasting with the data in nearly all the other images....

Pixinsight non-processing tools

Does anyone use PixInsight for registration, stacking and other analytical tools and then StarTools for processing?

If so what is your PI process and whch tools are really useful and would make it worth the purchase price?

Thanks

What is processing, what is art?

Inteested in some opinions. If you look at Astrobin there are a wide range of processed images for every target, take the Crescent nebula as an example. My image https://www.astrobin.com/ofnh00/ Compressed version below Now this is just StarTools with the H(H+O)O preset. The rest is adjustment of th...

Re: Rosette first Narrowband image

Ivo That is a lovely thing to say. I have been imaging for just a year or so and this image is a bit of a 'coming of age'. I think you can be very proud of the work you do as it enables people like me to fulfil dreams that some of us have had since childhood, The dream of imaging the wonders of the ...

Horsehead, 2 Camera

This is the Horsehead and Flame, captured with ZWO ASI183s (MM and MC). The MM image was with aBaader 7nm Ha for Luminance only, The MC had a Astronomik IR/UV filter. 180s (4hrs) and 60s (2hrs) respectively with a Redcat. Stacked with Sirilic, two stacks registered in Siril. Question for IVO, would ...

Re: Completed Modules Indicator

I like the last idea of the log file being available by the press of a button (with an option to hide the mask details preferably) and a save possibility. Perhaps an option to run a new log file made available when loading new data.
