M8 and environment

Hi all, I've been spending some money at ITelescope and captured this minimal exposure M8 widefield. I was surprised with the lack of noise - there was absolutely no need to bin. All narrowband, I enjoyed processing this though I'm not keen with the light blue of the Oiii. Details are just below the...

M42

Hi all, This is a more unusual view of M42. With this target, I usually use the filmdev option but thought this time I would do autodev (which doesn't like the blown out core). The result is a tremendously equalized image with the nebula almost not front and centre! This is from New Mexico at ITeles...

Re: strange data from narrowband

Thanks,

I will try that. I forgot to upload my new files. Could someone (Ivo too) look at the S2 and O3 to see if there is anything odd? Thanks.

Re: strange data from narrowband

Thank you for the "reference frame" advice. I never knew about this. Though I had to go "over to the other side" (Windows):) to do it. If anyone runs DSS successfully on Linux, I'd love to know how. So all channel are nicely lined up but.....now the data from the Sii and Oiii channels aren't contrib...

strange data from narrowband

Hello all, It's been awhile since I was last on this forum...new look I see....hope everyone is well! Being quite frustrated with my own primitive setup, I persuaded my wonderful wife to Christmas gift me with some points towards itelescope.. Nice gift. One of my favourite targets is the core of the...

Artifacts within stars

I did a presentation on StarTools at my local rasc astronomy group a couple of nights ago and got a weird artifact after I applied colour just before disengaging tracking. The video is rather long but if you queue to 1 hour 50 min, you should see. I was using the most recent version of 1.6 64 bit wi...

Re: deconvolution

Ah...I see. Thanks. I will try to find out how to increase my swap partition. It seems crashes are often and random - that would make sense.

Re: Gray Halo Around Stars

Hi Jim,

If you would like to share us your linear stacked data, I could have a go and see what I could offer.

Cheers Richard
