Sorry I have to keep changing my story. After healing with highlights/threshold on 1.3, the image corrupts after applying the contrast module.

I tend to do a lot of work with stars removed from the foreground. I often wish I could do a second pass of noise reduction - especially if I had made some additions stretches. I normally heal stars with the default mask setting. In one particular image I felt I also needed to remove some small galaxies as well. I used "highlights-threshold. However when I tried to open the healed image I found it corrupted - way over stretched and contrasted. I tried this on both the alpa...

I, too, am upgrading. I've got a i3-4130@3.4x2 with 8 gigs memory on linux. It's running very slowly and I need to bin most images so processing doesn't take too l long. Upgrading processor is too expensive but I may buy more memory to a total of 24 gigs. Would this be a good option or should I wait...
