I like!
Very reminiscent of our own milkyway, isn't it?

Re: xubuntu color profile - xicc

Hi Rowland,

StarTools should respect whatever color profile you set for the X11 server to use.
I've always found color calibration on Linux problematic - would love to hear how you get on and which tools you use for the job!

Re: New to AP seek advice

This is dificult data to work with indeed, with many gradients and unevenness obscuring the true signal (which is very faint). Did you take flats? The biggest change to your posted workflow would be to crop a bit more aggressively, bin your data (to gain a bit more signal fidelity) and, most importa...

Re: Orion Widefield

That's an exquisite collection of Orion's gems. Excellent detail, colors and nicely framed too. This is very deep as it is with loads of the interstellar medium visible already. From where I'm sitting, it appears that processing on the laptop has had no material effect on the quality; it's spot-on i...

Re: New to AP seek advice

Thanks Marco. Good workflow. I'd suggest caution when using the Fractal Flux module to synthesize plausible detail with, especially when using wide fields. The way Fractal Flux works is by analysing the image larger scale structures and gas flows and then tries to apply what it has learned about the...

NASA APOD for Fred Vanderhaven

One of my longtime favorite astrophotographers (and recent StarTools user) Fred Vanderhaven has managed a NASA APOD using StarTools; http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap140305.html Congrats Fred! It's such a brilliant narrowband image with a lot of depth and physics in play. http://apod.nasa.gov/...

Re: Re-processing te Cignus Loop

Another big difference!
I'd like to understand what exactly the problem is with the star mask. Did the Decon preset help at all? Not all stars need to be deselected for decon, just the ones that have a singularity at their core (e.g. the ones that have been overexposed).

Re: Using Heal to process stars and background independently

Hi all. Heal is a very powerfull function but I have a question. Why heal is unavailable with the tracking enabled? And if I work with heal due to separate stars and nebula and later I add the different layers in a only image again ¿Must I activate tracking again? It had impact in the noise reducti...
