Processing C/2020 F3 Neowise
I am trying to process the Comet Neowise using Star Tools and I am running into some issues. I have taken the same stacked fits file into Pixinsight with pretty good results. I am started out by doing a Autodev to find the artifacts, then binning 50% and doing a wipe. I did not go any further becaus...

Re: Improving the colors in the Veil
Hi Ivo, I use Sharpcap Pro to perform live stacking so when I am finished, I have one fits file. I always use a light pollution filter on my Hyperstar Lens. My exposure on this image is 3 minute exposures for a total of 45 minutes using gain of 225. I did not stretch this image it's the native stack...

Improving the colors in the Veil
I was wondering how I could bring out more color in the Western Veil Image using Star Tools. I am pretty happy with my results but I would like to improve on the color of the wispy tail which is harder to see. When I try to lighten up the image that helps but then it brings out more stars which I do...

M42 Removing Amp Glow
I think my image is suffering from AMP Glow and I don't know how to fix it. When I took this image the moon was about 90% lit. Would somebody be able to take a crack at this? I know that there are artifacts but I just don't know how many. I am attaching the fits file. Please provide the steps you to...

Re: Veil Challenge (Lots of Noise)
Ivo, I realize that this is not the best image to use. I have since gotten much better and I now apply the darks during live stacking with Sharpcap Pro. Do you have some kind of documentation that would document the general work flow to process an image in Star Tools? I watched a very good video on...

Re: Veil Challenge (Lots of Noise)
That certainly got rid of the noise. Can I ask you the steps you performed to fix this? I noticed that there are a lot less starts too.

Veil Challenge (Lots of Noise)
I am still learning Star Tools and I think I have a very good image to work on since there are lots of noise problems. I processed the image in PixInsight a few months ago and I did a pretty good job getting rid of the noise but could not bring out the colors as much as I would like. I spent a lot o...

Re: Type of Dataset Question using a OSC Camera
The second option engages Compose mode (you will notice it is lit green). Compose mode makes StarTools process luminance and color separately, yet simultaneously. In this mode you mostly work on the luminance (which is, of course, mono) to bring out detail until you hit the Color module, which then ...

Type of Dataset Question using a OSC Camera
When I open my fits file I get a message on what type of file I am loading. The choices are linear, Linear OSC and Non-linear sRGB source. Well that last choice is Non-Linear so I can rule that one out since I know it's a linear file. The camera I am used was a ZWO ASI 183MC One Shot Color. So I dec...
